Jewelery Dante Cardini — Local services in Florence

During our visit to the Ponte Vecchio yesterday we came across a jeweller, Dante Cardini, who was selling a stunning snake bracelet. I was interested in purchasing it and tried it on but was only left more certain it wasn't worth the asking price. So we left the item.

My husband, who has spent much of his career in the jewellery industry, affirmed that there was no real value in the material, (oxidised silver and back diamonds), but that the value of the item was in it's craftsmanship.

We later thought that perhaps they might consider reducing their price and opted to return and enquire.

We came in with a figure we thought was reasonable and still in their favour but the lady who was helping us said "the price is the price" - fair enough.

My husband then started to explain that we recognised that there was little value in the material but before he could finish and acknowledge the craftsmanship, she interrupted and told him to "not speak shit" to her. Three times she felt it necessary to say this!!

To my surprise he did not respond to her rude and disgusting manner. She could merely have interrupted with her own explanation of its craftsmanship but she opted to condescend and disrespect us in the manner she did instead.

After her little outburst, she did continue to "try" and find a better price for us but it was still beyond the item's worth and of course by then I lost interest in purchasing anything at all from this retailer.

Anyone who would treat a serious customer the way she did is not someone whom I believe deserves anyone's custom and for this reason I would not recommend visiting Dante Cardini on the...

In 2019 I contacted Dante & Cardini about engagement rings and wedding bands. From the start I was impressed by how responsive and helpful they were despite contacting them from the USA. I had a very specific ring design in mind and I enjoyed speaking with Massimo and Elisabetta so much that we began working on a custom ring and wedding band design together.

We planned a specific timeline for creating the rings to coincide with 2020 travel plans and to do a surprise engagement on their beautiful terrace overlooking the Arno and Ponte Vecchio. Although Covid ultimately delayed our travels plans for over a year they still crafted the rings on schedule. In 2021, my now wife and I were finally able to make our trip to Florence. We picked up the rings and enjoyed a lovely sunset on the Dante Cardini terrace, it was magical!

Working with the Cardini’s was a truly unique experience that you can’t find anywhere else in Florence. Every day my wife and I are amazed by the rings - the craftsmanship is impeccable. While the Ponte Vecchio has been noticeably moving away from small, independent, artisan goldsmiths, if you want a jewelry store where “made in Florence” still means something, Dante Cardini is the place to go! I sent engagement ring designs to Massimo and Elizabetta prior to coming to Florence. They were able to help guide me through creating a beautiful bespoke piece of jewellery for my fiancé. Communication throughout the whole process was professional, clear and always timely. The ring and diamond were even more beautiful that I had imagined!

On the actual day, Elisabetta and Massimo allowed us to use their beautiful private terrace / balcony overlooking the river Arno on the Ponte Vecchio. They even managed to help me keep it as a surprise and kindly provides us with some celebratory Prosecco and nibbles.

Afterwards it was lovely having a chat with them, and Elisabetta kindly helped me organise the Global Blue tax return.

I really felt they both went above and beyond to help create a beautiful piece of jewellery and ensure the day would be very special. Thank you!
