I cannot say enough positive things about TuscanHound! They saved the weekend for us and for our miniature dachshund, Gus.

Gus has pretty bad separation anxiety, especially in this new and unfamiliar city, and without his big brother, who passed away a few weeks ago. So we were especially worried when we weren’t able to take him with us on a weekend trip. He could not have been in better hands! Francine and the TuscanHound crew went above and beyond, caring for Gus like one of their own pets, and putting us at ease through frequent updates and responsive communication.

We had originally hoped that three daily visits in our own apartment would give Gus the attention he needed, while letting him stay in a place comfortable and familiar to him. Maryanne and Chloe (TuscanHound’s owners/managers) quickly put us in contact with Francine, the sitter. Gus immediately took to Francine during the initial meet-and-greet — there’s no beating animal intuition for gentle, caring people — and loved the walks and play sessions on the first day we left. Francine sent updates and photos during and after each session using WhatsApp, so we knew exactly what was going on.

To our dismay, however, our internet security camera in the apartment informed us that Gus became increasingly lonely and panicked when he was alone in between visits. Our hearts broke as we listened to him cry, and so I texted the TuscanHound team to switch our service to include overnight stays for the rest of the weekend. It was the small hours of the morning, so I expected no response until the next day, but Francine immediately responded and informed me that she could be there to comfort Gus. Francine and the team spoiled Gus the rest of the weekend, taking him on walks and adventures in the city, and letting him tag along to cafes or hang out in the office when other obligations popped up. We returned to a very happy and well cared-for dog.

The TuscanHound team provided more attentive, flexible, and personalized care than we could have hoped for. I actually had to double check the booking invoice; TuscanHound’s prices are incredibly reasonable for the level of service they offer.

I am so appreciative of Maryanne, her team and their service. We are in Florence for the year and agonized about what to do with our Yorkie if we have to travel without her. We have gone through every different kind of service back home in Canada, and when we would return from a trip our dog was invariably exhausted and stressed, whether she had been cared for in or outside our home. Not so with Florence Pet Sitting. When we come home she is returned to us happy, rested, completely without issues, and that tells us everything. Maryanne is exceedingly professional; she does everything right, from quick communication, organization, flexibility, as well as tight regulation on quality control. What I particularly appreciate is her concern and abilities with your particular dog’s psychology and needs. She is concerned with their safety and comfort. They go on walks often, they stay in her home or one of her long-time employee’s homes (our Yorkie has done both). When the dogs are out they are on leash or if they can handle a dog park they go unleashed only in enclosed, designated areas, identified with jaunty red bandanas. I know, because we get frequent photos and updates of our dog’s day. Maryanne takes better pet photos than we do, so I appreciate that too!

I can’t say enough good things about this service. We trust her completely and wish we could have as good a service back home. I don’t know how to assess the many personal ads that seem to make up the alternatives here - individuals who say they are great with animals, but are unlicensed and unknown quantities. Would I trust my dog to someone out of the blue? I am writing a review because you are probably having the same trouble and concerns about the pet(s) you love. I have complete confidence in this business; my experience with Florence Pet Sitting has been nothing short of excellent. Highly recommended. I didn’t want our cat to be alone all day while we were away for a week on vacation, also in case of health problems. Usually we have a house/pet-sitter, but this year we decided to try TuscanHound’s overnight care service. We needed someone with experience who would know how to make our fierce but adorable ex-stray feel as comfortable as possible. As he is not compatible with other animals, he needed a place “by himself.” Maryanne took him into her own home, where she and her husband took pains not to stress him, while encouraging him to explore and get to know them when he was ready. Chloe’s piazza handoff service made everything much easier for both the cat and me, and the daily photographs were reassuring. It’s also great to know they are there in case of a last-minute emergency.

Altamente raccomandato. Non volevo che il nostro gatto stesse da solo tutto il giorno mentre eravamo fuori una settimana per le vacanze, anche in caso di problemi di salute. Di solito abbiamo un house/pet-sitter, ma quest’anno abbiamo deciso di provare il servizio di pernottamento gatti di TuscanHound.
