If I had to sum this place up in 3 words I would use arrogant, overpriced and rude.
I came here with my girlfriend who was looking for a cross pendant. After being greeted and told to wait we were eventually seen by the older gentleman who seemed to run the shop. We were looking for 22k gold which they didn't do (no surprise, most places in Europe don't) but we were happy to look at the 18k pieces they had.
While asking for 22k gold and showing the jewellery we were currently wearing he very rudely questioned whether it was actually 22k gold at all and questioned where we had purchased it (a very reputable jeweller in Singapore).
Then when we were asking about the cross pendant I showed the one I was currently wearing to which he smirked and said condescendingly "we have much better". I was shocked by his total lack of respect but thought ok maybe he has incredible pieces NO! They are awful with incredibly poor workmanship. The attached picture shows my 22k cross against a grey t shirt while the other shows the piece my girlfriend tried on at the store. The difference in quality is incredible.
And we haven't got to the price yet... Almost 180 euros PER GRAM. If you know gold you know this is absurd. The global price of 18k at the time of writing this is just around 50USD. For some of the small crosses like the one in the picture he wanted 800 euros. Truly insane when you could buy a 10 gram cross with exceptional workmanship for that price in Singapore or Malaysia.
Combine the prices, the arrogance, the rudeness and the poor workmanship and I seriously hope you can make the right decision and avoid this shop. If I could leave a 0 star review I would. What a truly awful...
Read moreWell… I would start this review with the info that we bought from here (so we like it). It will be a little bit long, but it is our personal experience.
We were in a need for weeding bands for our weeding. So we said - lets make it special / lets book a trip to buy them and remember this special moment.
As we are not italians or living in Italy, we were looking at Rome with a reason. Beside the city itslef, we were reading that the ritual of giving/wearing wedding bands was Roman… so we said: what could be better that Rome for this?
We did a research and find Ansuini as the oldest jewelry in Rome, still open for the public. We were lucky to meet 5th generation owner (we know there is 6th generation as well :) and we had a very wonderful experience. That man was a very wise counselor for us.
We chose the wedding band, our measure and style (around 10:00 am) and the owner said: “go visit colloseum and come back later (17:00) for the wedding bands with the memories in your mind”.
I do not remember what he said to me, but my round wedding ring is now like a Colloseum (round) in my mind.
Romans, wedding bans, Ansuini experince….
For sure we will...
Read moreI contacted Ansuini in the hopes of having an engagement ring made in secret during our two weeks in Rome before the big day - and they delivered above and beyond my wildest dreams. I showed up with some Pinterest inspiration pictures and a rough idea of diamond cut, and Nicola and their craftsmen turned those rough ideas into an actual work of art. The final ring didn’t just get the yes - it’s gotten me barraged with questions about how I managed to find something so beautiful.
Equally importantly, Nicola was patient, thoughtful, and incredibly professional. I went in as nervous and clueless as you’d expect, but I didn’t once feel pressured. The price was more than fair and the ring got made exactly on schedule. I guess you don’t get to be the oldest jeweler in the city without knowing your stuff.
5 stars, 6 if I could - Ansuini’s got themselves a customer for life (till death...
