Antica Cappelleria Troncarelli is not just a shop – it’s a piece of Rome’s fashion heritage. Established in 1857, it offers an impeccable selection of hats for every style and season, from timeless fedoras and trilbies to elegant panamas and contemporary designs.

I usually have difficulty shopping for hats as I have a smaller-than-average head size while being quite tall – a combination that makes finding the right proportions tricky. The owner immediately understood my needs and offered at least three excellent options, two of which I happily bought on the spot.

Do not fall for the cheap fakes you see in many small street shops before you try on a real hat here and feel the difference – in quality, fit, and craftsmanship, it’s night and day. And if you travel a lot, the Rollable Borsalino is an absolute gem – stylish, perfectly made, and easy to pack without losing its shape.

The staff are true professionals – knowledgeable, attentive, and passionate about their craft. I returned to Antica Cappellaria Troncarelli to speak with the owners about pricing on a Stetson Sheridan. While an unusually styled hat, the felt quality is only a 4x and of bison, not rabbit.

This stetson retails in the US at $102-$125, the price here is $289.

The owner was very polite and direct. Stetson is imported through Germany, where the price is inflated before he can purchase it. This means that a much better product value here are the Borsalinos.

The selection in the shop and the service are excellent, but for your best value, buy Italian.

Oddly enough, the Stetson Sheridan is one of the least expensive Western Stetsons, but priced higher than superior models.
