Osteria Acquastanca — Restaurant in Venice

The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars and not 1 is because the food was good. Otherwise, it was the worst place we ate in our last trip to Italy (and we've been to many cities and places). The prices are ridiculously high compared to the portions. The portions were incredibly small and unbalances. I've ordered one plate of mozzarella with tomatoes and there was one small ball of mozzarella and a plate full of tomatoes. I ended up eating the tomatoes with bread, because the mozzarella was gone after a few bites. But the worst thing was the coperto. They have 3.5 euros coperto PER PERSON, not per table. I was with my wife and our 2 years old child and they charged us 3 times the coperto, also for the 2 years old child. And we didn't even order anything for the child, we ordered just 2 portions of food. We've been in this trip to Bologna, Mestre, Venice, Merano and Bolzano and never seen this level of rip-off. If you're in Murano and you're hungry, don't go to Osteria Acquastanca, you will be ripped off and you will be still hungry when you leave. Wonder why this place was half empty, while the others...

The ‘Osteria Acqastanca' is a restaurant situated in the heart of a small island called Murano, Italy. You can reach it by water transit from Venice, Italy. It is the favourite hangout place for people from the town.

As you enter the place you are welcomed by a magnificent setting, a delightful welcome from the family owned chef and staff. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering starters. I had the seafood salad it was exquisite. The main course consisted of a white fish and cherry tomato and olives which really thrilled me. It all was followed by a delicious homemade ice-cream served with a scoop of strawberries.

Nice little place close to the canal in Murano. We didn’t have luck unfortunately. We ordered spaghetti with clams. Uneatable. Both pasta and clams super salty. Waiter tried to say it’s ok and normal but hey, it was close to my wife’s heart attack 😀 they changed the plate, ravioli with ricotta on tomatoes, it was good. My papardelle with shrimps appeared to be papardelle with “a shrimp” not shrimps cut in pieces and thrown on top. Both pasta and pesto was really good. I could not taste the shrimp to tell. Customer service is really poor. Rolling eyes, no smile - when this should be so easy job. Smile, recommend, be understanding. It’s not cheap restaurant. Just for an info: they take 3,5 euro per person for coperta. Will not come back and do not recommend.
