I am an American visiting the friendly, welcoming Venician Island of Faro di Murano with my brother. We arrived via ferry after 7pm, in an entirely foreign land without any idea where to dine. Luckily, our flat was located directly next door to this wonderful family-owned and operated authentic Murano bistro.
Knowing no Italian, we were welcomed with warmth and enthusiasm by the lovely family.
We enjoyed their handmade bruschetta, a combination of fish, squid, olive tapenade, salted meats and cheeses. We followed with the carbonara burger and gnocchi and of course lovely, young Valpolicella wine.
The food was authentic, delicious and served with smiles and hospitality. I troubled our hosts a few times and each time they indulged my poor attempt at Italian and even joined us for conversation and laughter.
If you are visiting Venice, take the ferry to Faro di Murano and a 20-second walk puts you in the company of the kindest, most inclusive Venician hosts you could ask for.

Read moreThis was the single worst dining experience I have ever had in my life. First we walked up to the restaurant - the two waitresses and one kitchen staff were talking amongst themselves. We stood in front of them. They completely ignored us. Eventually I asked “do we just sit anywhere?”. Begrudgingly one of them turned around and said “yeah” and went back to their conversation. The flies attacked us relentlessly. A bird defecated on my wife. I asked for a wet towel to clean her off, they tossed me some napkins. We ordered pizza. After one bite, my wife and I both spit it back out, it was absolutely horrid. It tasted sour and spoiled. I told them we would like to pay for our drinks and leave, this was an absolute nightmare. They brought the manager out, who yelled at us and told us we have to pay for the pizza and a sandwich that we hadn’t received yet. This restaurant has no...
Read moreWorst experience in Venice! When I entered the restaurant and started looking at what to order they turned the music up making it very loud this made me go outside in the cold weather. There I ordered spagettie with squid ink and received a cold undercooked dish(the pasta was undercooked and difficult to chew) I started eating but shorty stopped. The squid also had a noticeable cheep aroma. After eating I started feeling heavy and nauseous. Never eating here again and I hope nobody will share my experience...
