Someone bought this for me at the main shop in Kyoto. It's only sold 3 days of the month, so it's not 'easy' to buy. It's not dorayaki. It's a misnomer. The name comes Dora, meaning gong, or bell? Something like that. The red bean paste inside is refined...amazingly smooth in texture and taste. It's sweet but not overly sweet like some red bean paste. The exterior is like mochi... And looks like it has tree rings. It's a perfect match with coffee. After tasting this, I really want to try other sweets, items at the shop!!!

The どら焼き here are exceptional and absolutely worth a try. Unlike typical どら焼き these have a much more glutinous texture and are quite a treat to sample. The 大福 I had were also good but not exceptional enough by themselves to warrant a special trip.
