After arriving in Kyoto yesterday we were ready to check out what was in the area. After browsing through Google we came across this little gem. Reviews were amazing and we thought we had to see for ourselves. Vegan or vegetarian options in Japan often consist of a platter of vegetables and rice as a filler but this place had levelled up when it came to providing good quality well executed food which tastes like it looks which is incredible.

The staff were attentive and chatty, and that created a relaxed friendly vibe and that was a pleasant and a welcomed surprise. It really made us want to return and write this review.

We both ordered the curry and rice, which came with the best tasting salads I had in a long while and we ordered some vegetarian sushi. Loads of flavour and well presented food. You could taste the care and attention gone into each dish.

We found the bill reasonable and accurately reflected the delicious food we had and we will be retuning to try some of their vegan egg sandwiches as they look epic.

Neither of us are vegetarian and the staff spoke better English than our terrible attempt at speaking some Japanese.

You will not be disappointed so stop by if you are in the area or make a special trip because it is...

Nestled away like a precious secret, Mercy Vegan Factory is a true hidden gem in Kyoto! From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere. But the real magic happens when the food arrives. Everything on the menu is completely vegan, and let me tell you, it's absolutely excellent. Each dish is crafted with care and bursts with flavor, proving that plant-based cuisine can be truly exceptional. And for those looking for a sophisticated non-alcoholic beverage, they even offer non-alcoholic wine! It's a delightful touch that elevates the dining experience. However, the standout for me was undoubtedly the shojin curry. It was simply outstanding. The delicate balance of spices and the depth of flavor were truly remarkable. It's a dish I'll be dreaming about long after leaving. If you're looking for delicious vegan food in Kyoto, and a little peace away from the bustle, be sure to seek out Mercy Vegan Factory – you won't be...

After seeing the amazing reviews of Mercy, my partner and I had to eat here. We are holidaying from Australia and have been eating at every well known vegan restaurant. All I can say is wow, the food here definitely lived up to its high reputation! I tried the gimbap (korean 'sushi'), sweet and sour cauliflower and the kuramafu. While all dishes were incredible, the cauliflower was next level tasty. The gimbap was also the best rice dish/sushi I've eaten in Japan (so many different flavours and ingredients are generously packed into the gimbap).

A big shoutout to the young chef and also to the owner, who are the friendliest people I've met in Japan. This is the sort of business you want to continually go back to - not only for the food but also to support a wonderful...
