Even though we absolutely love Japanese food, we were really craving pizza and this place is the perfect pizza spot! We had dinner here 2 of the 3 days we spent in Kyoto, and we loved it both times.
The staff is super friendly and the place is decorated cool and cozy. We sat on the couch both times, but there were other seats with chairs/wooden seats with cushions as well. The food is incredibly tasty ánd unbelievably affordable as well.
Another amazing part of this pizzeria is that you can customize your own pizza, even allowing more traditionally Japanse ingredients, as well as more traditionally Italian toppings. I had a simple pizza both times, but they were delicious: they had the perfect dough/crust, what appeared to be homemade tomato sauce, and the perfect amount of mozarella. We also ordered drinks the first time, which were sweet and refreshing; the second time we ordered the onion rings. They were juicy and had a nice crispy skin: they were literally just parts of the onion battered and fried, instead of the usual thin bits of onion with a lot of batter. So, definitely a step above the usual onion rings!
All in all: th moe place is perfect to sit down and enjoy; they do only make one pizza at a time, since it is a small place, but the wait was still very short both times.
Definitely the best...
Read moreI'm so glad we stumbled into this place. After a day at the Kyoto Aquarium (which is a whole different review) we stumbled into this place not knowing what to expect. But when the sign outside show a ton of fondue cheese being poured over a pizza onto fried chicken and French fries, you might as well write me an engraved invitation.
We ordered something I think we weren't supposed to, I don't know how it worked, but it was exactly what I wanted and he poured the fondue cheese over our cheese pizza - and through down onto the French fries.
Confused about why they kept showing Double Dutch videos on the TV (is this a big thing in Kyoto of all places?) The man explained to be that everyone who works there is on a Double Dutch Jump Rope team that is highly competitive. The other waiter was a Double Dutch Champion ?!?!?
I just wanted malty cheese on French fries, but I'll take a side of Double Dutch as well. I almost forget: The playlist was EXACTLY my type as well. Every song got better than the last. Early 90's R&B,...
Read moreGood music, the pizza and sides were tasty, however this is a very busy place with 3 employees total. One of which was a DJ, who had great taste. The servers were completely overrun and forgot items we ordered, they were immediately apologetic and got to work fixing the issue after a good 45 minutes of no service. The staff were all incredibly kind and hospitable and tried their best to support the entire restaurant.
This seems to be a place to go and kick back and not worry about too much for the quality, seems great for young people especially. However, the service was the worst compared to every other experience I’ve had on my travels in Japan, the servers are not set up with the equipment or infrastructure to succeed a restaurant of its size. I would fault management who seem to keep everything so barebones except for “vibes” that it struggles to serve everybody as a restaurant. Don’t try run a nightclub with a DJ until you are competently running a regular...
