After searching online to try and find a tour guide who could help me show my father (mid 60's) the best of Kyoto and understand and respect the health restrictions that came with our tour I finally found Tours in Kyoto. Booking our day trip with them was the best decision I could have made. Jonathan was extremely patient with my correspondence leading up to our trip and assisted in not only booking our guide, but also finding a restaurant for us to enjoy lunch in one of the more remote places within Kyoto. Thomas our guide was FANTASTIC!!! He was extremely patient, came with a wealth of knowledge and was genuinely very easy to talk to. We spent a lot of time discussing not only what Kyoto has to offer, but also the history and significance of the places that we visited. He was flexible throughout the day and was able to change our itinerary when dad was getting tired. We had such an amazing day, even the rain couldn't stop us from enjoying ourselves. We were able to see several locations and enjoy not only some of the most beautiful sceneries, but also some of the most delicious food we have ever eaten. When we return to Kyoto I will definitely be booking another one (or two) tours with Thomas and Tours in Kyoto. Thank you so much for making the day...

We had the absolute pleasure of spending a full day with Thomas from Kyoto Tours, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip. Thomas guided us seamlessly from Kyoto to Hiroshima on the Bullet Train, handling every detail with ease. From securing tickets to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and Hiroshima Castle, to arranging a memorable lunch at a fantastic local spot, his planning and care made the day effortless for us.

The experience continued as Thomas brought us to Miyajima Island, where we took the ferry and explored the breathtaking Shinto shrine. His deep knowledge of Japanese history, combined with his engaging and warm manner, transformed each stop into a meaningful and memorable moment.

Thomas is not just a guide—he is a storyteller, a host, and a wonderful ambassador of Japanese culture. We left the day not only with incredible memories, but also with a deeper appreciation of the history and beauty of Hiroshima and Miyajima. We cannot recommend Thomas highly enough for anyone seeking an exceptional, stress-free, and enriching travel...

We had an amazing day in Kyoto with Thomas ! He picked us up at the train station and we started our adventure . It was busy season and my family and I only had the day then we were heading back to Tokyo, we were warned we might not be able to see everything we had hoped to but Thomas made it all happen !

He knew all the back roads and took the time to patiently answer all our questions . He drove us to all the things we wanted to see plus more . We packed in Arashiyama Bamboo forest , Fushimi Inari Shrine , Kinkakuji Temple , Higashi Honganji Temple , Geisha area and so much more .

Thomas asked if there was anything we wanted to eat special and we had not gone to a ramen place yet so he took us the the best ramen place and we loved it . The whole day was magical. So happy we had Thomas as our Guide and that we took the day to go to Kyoto. We only had a few days in Japan and although there is a lot to see in Tokyo the vibe in Kyoto was more our thing . This was definitely our favorite...

Our family had an amazing day in Kyoto learning about Japanese culture while sightseeing with Dieter and Thomas from "Tours in Kyoto". We only had one day to visit Kyoto, so it was important that we had the ability to customize our tour to see and do what we had planned. Jonathan was our point of contact and he did an amazing job balancing our sightseeing goals in what amounted to a very short time period (one day isn't enough). On the day of our tour we arrived in Kyoto from Tokyo and were met by Dieter and Thomas at the Shinkansen train station. We spent the day visiting several temples, shrines, had lunch, and did some shopping! Our guides were very accommodating and extremely knowledgeable. We learned so much about Japanese culture, history, and traditions! I want to thank Dieter and Thomas for making the tour a true highlight of our family trip to Japan. I highly recommend "Tours in Kyoto", simply a top notch group that will work with you to create a memorable tour of Kyoto and beyond.
