It was nice to find an english friendly salon while I am a tourist in Japan. The staff were very friendly and their english was very good. I booked Hair Style, Head Spa, and Hair Color (no bleach) services. While the head stylist I got did a good job with the hair styling, and the assistant did a great job with the Head Spa, I cannot recommend them for specialty colors.
I came in with level 10 hair, and asked for a pastel pink or “white pink” with reference photo. The stylist came over with the color sample book, which only had 1 pink color choice. But the sample looked more like my final result (see photo) and I told him that’s too vibrant, too much pink. He noted he would add “more white” to lighten it like the reference photo.
When it came time to color, the dye in the bowl looked very much like the sample, and quite a hot pink. I pointed it out to him before he applied, and luckily- another customer in the shop got the same pink dye, so he pointed at them and said it would end up like that. The other customer had a bright pink color, and not pastel/white pink, so i said “It needs to be lighter, more white.” And I guess he went to go fix it??? He returned with the color looking exactly the same, but at that point, I decided to trust him instead of listen to my gut that the color mixed was still too hot pink. Anyway, here’s a picture of reference shown (left) and the end result (right).
And once I left the shampoo area and sat down, you could immediately tell the color was too dark and I was unhappy, but noone asked me about the color or talked to me. They knew…
Once the stylist came back to finish styling/blowdry my hair, I mentioned the color wasn’t the same, showed the picture again, and he said “Oh really?” surprised, and we moved on. I asked how many washes it would take to get the color out, and he mentioned 2 washes. I was not offered anything to fix my hair or compensation in anyway. But I also didn’t ask because I was short on time as a tourist. It seemed to me regardless of the reference photo, the stylist believed pink is pink is pink. So if you are going in for particular creative color(s) like me- beware.
Washing my own hair at home is apparently the solution, but that’s unfortunate because the color won’t fade evenly that way, and I paid for head spa treatment too, so I didn’t want to immediately wash the treatment out or irritate...
Read moreMy Stylist was super nice the issue was the assistant. The assistant with a short pink bob haircut was treating my hair as if i was a doll and I was holding back tears when she was washing and drying my hair with how rough she was. The wash felt like 2 minutes and like a 5 year old was washing hair for the first time. The worst was when she started blow drying my hair though. I had two assistants and the other one was perfectly fine, however when it came to the short hair girl thats when it all went down hill. It felt like I was the first person she had ever blown dry hair for. She was yanking and pulling on my hair so hard I was in tears. I also just got korean extensions last week and the side she blew dry has completely ruined them by pulling them half way out which is another reason i’m in tears. The other side which the other normal assistant blew dry is perfectly fine while the side she did is sore and the extensions are ruined already after I literally just got them done. Im so disappointed because this was also the first wash after getting them done and they’re already destroyed. Im left absolutely regretting this whole appointment and would’ve rather just went literally anywhere else or done it myself. I think a barbershop would’ve done better at blow drying my long hair compared to her. Im praying she doesnt continue pursuing hair cause if so im worried for any of her...
Read moreAre you an English-speaker looking for a hair salon in Osaka able to communicate with you easily? Look no further.
I was in the care of the handsome Nobuyuki Kobayashi and very cute Nene Taira. I arrived an hour earlier than the time of my appointment but they've received me very well.
Nene-san, despite the site saying that her English is "beginner" level, is extremely easy to understand and talk with thanks to APPARENTLY two months of learning thanks to SpongeBob. Genius! Before the actual cut, I was given a shampoo by her, which so far is on par with my experience at a hair salon in my home country. But then I was given a separate head and shoulders massage, which surprised me (in a good way).
After this came the cut, expertly done by Nobuyuki-san who is only in this location once every few months (he is mainly in Tokyo). However, from my observation of the rest of the staff working on other clients, you are in good hands no matter who you pick. Once that was done I was given yet another shampoo/head massage, by which point I laughed, wondering just how many steps there were! There were some finishing touches and hair blowing before I left on my merry way, satisfied and refreshed.
I only paid a single 60 minutes course.
I'm a bit sad that I won't be able to see these good people again but if you need your hair done in Osaka, this is the...
