Onekara — Local services in Osaka

Despite me not speaking any Japanese (aside from the usual words to get by), the staff here have always been incredibly friendly, and this is a great place to go to have your own solo karaoke party or practice before you head out to the bars. If you don’t know Japanese, be sure to download Google Translate (or another translation app with a camera feature) to be able to navigate the karaoke machine, and to potentially help with any communication barriers with the staff. Everytime I have been, the staff have spoken little to no English, but have still be very kind!

Notes: -You can turn up/down the echo (it’s usually automatically turned on when you first arrive - it’s controlled in the tablet under “Volume”). -You can also adjust keys on the songs in “Volume” (I know this isn’t exclusive to just Onekara, but it’s possible - in case you want to figure out the best key for you) -Unless it’s important to you, go with the cheapest headphones (¥300). I’ve paid more before, but didn’t notice a big difference. -You can order alcoholic drinks (maybe just beer and highballs?) from the front desk :) -The karaoke room is a bit bright when you walk in, but you can turn it down with a knob in the room -The first time I came here, they asked if I had an “app” or “membership” (can’t remember which), and I didn’t/don’t. I couldn’t sign up, as I have a US phone number, and they still let me in. :)

Highly recommend for anyone who wants to karaoke and is traveling solo!

It’s good. Considering the insane traffic they’re getting as the single(remaining) Onekara outside of Tokyo City, it is well-managed and the staff is generally courteous as well. I noticed that they try very hard to get you to use the iPhone app membership card AND have a tendency to ‘suggest’ getting the rental headphones(the Tokyo people don’t), but I guess that’s a Osaka(which was well known as a haven for merchants since the ancient times thanks to its seaside location) thing.

I just hope the boss/owner isn’t being too demanding to the employees to be nice. I mean, I hate rude people but I want the employees to...

だいたい出張前後の日に利用していますが、オートロック個室でゆっくりできるので出張荷物（ボストンバッグ）持参でも気兼ねなく利用できるので私的には重宝しています。 通信英会話教室もあるので、検討中です。

ただ最近スタッフさんに、昼間から眠そうな顔で態度の悪い（見下し感がある）人や、意味不明な案内をする人が増えたのが残念です（自己判断か、教え違いをされているのかわかりませんが）。以前はもっと笑顔で感じ良かったのに……。 笑顔くらいは接客業の基本ですし、それ一つで重労働になるわけでもないのでもう少し頑張っていただきたいです。

【良い点】 ■価格は割とリーズナブルで明朗会計です（私はヘッドホン持参でレンタル無しです）。 火曜日のレディースデーもできました。 ■セルフのドリンクバーが便利。 ■オートロックなので一時外出やお手洗いの時なども安心。 ■ヘッドホンカラオケがある（その音質が良くマトモに使える）店舗は関西には珍しいので貴重。 ■音質が良く、近隣の音漏れも少なくほとんど気にならない。 ■一時外出が可能（※ただしその時間も料金がかかるので、あまり長く出ると損）。

【残念な点】 ■元気と笑顔がなく、声が小さいスタッフさんが居る。 ■エアコン調節ができないので、暑すぎたり寒すぎたりする（特に暑い時が多い）。 ■お手洗いが男女それぞれ一つのみ。 ■まねきねこアプリが登録エラー連発で利用できません。 ■（余談ですが）個室は狭めで寛げない。 特に夜のフリータイム利用で泊まる（ネカフェのように眠る）には不向き。基本カラオケのみ...
