We decided we wanted teppanyaki today for lunch and we stumbled upon his gem in the backstreets of Ginza today.
Chef Toyota and his staff were extremely friendly and recommended the lunch Wagyu beef lunch set for 2500yen.
Chef Toyota truly provided a show and a one on one personal chef experience. All the beef is high quality A5 wagyu from Hokkaido area...scallops also from Hokkaido too.
This place is a fantastic value for what you get....the set comes with rice, soup and salad plus cold tea too! We decided to add the scallops to our set too and chef was happy to cook them fresh for us.
He's also a banana artist too and makes fantastic fresh banana milks from organic local milk. We tried both the organic regular and soy version. Both were light and delicious.
As we ate, he chatted with us and we used google translate to have a nice conversation with him. He recommended some spots for us to visit in Japan as well.
I highly recommend this spot for some delicious Teppanyaki and great Japanese omotonashi (service).
This spot is a great value and the service was exceptional! Good spot to get away from the tourist scene and eat with the locals on the...
Read moreI generally don't like to be harsh and try to be somewhat kind and think something positive abt a meal but this would have to be one of the worst meals possible. Based on the reviews, I wonder how many are legitimate accouts. The edamame and scallops were frozen not fresh. The beef was in vacuum packing. Why wouldnt he have the beef pre portioned measured and cut? He did it on the spot and then started cooking it. Who grills beef straight out of vacuum pack and cold??? Then he covers it while cooking on grill so it is like its steamed. Then he cuts the beef with the grain. Who does that???? The tomato salad was soggy and a tough chewy burrata.
The restaurant was full of dirty dishes everywhere.
The chef really looked lost and was constantly looking for utensils and other ingredients because the place was such a mess he couldnt find anything.
The rice at the end was inedible.
I am too embarassed to post any photos of the food.
Only the messy resraurant.
You have been warned.
Oh and the bill was over USD100 per person.
If you are a Fawlty Towers fan, this is the closest you will get to the reality.
Apologies to the restaurant owner for...
Read moreI booked the dinner a month in advance. It was a challenge to book via other teppanyaki restaurants in Ginza area as they don’t take the reservation for family with kid. This is the one who takes the online booking and communicate well!! ( highly recommended for first time visit Japan and English speaking family) the chef - Toyoda and the lady were so nice. The technology ( google translate) helps out a lot! They reminded us the weather of the day, also look after the allergy or other requirement of the whole family. We ordered 5 sets of standard meal plus a meal for kid. Also some drinks. Food was so fresh and my 7 yo boy ate 6 scallops! We are all appreciate with our first meal in Japan which makes a great start of the trip!!! Thank you so much. I would say the professionalism and service of the chef and staff make the big success of this little gem in the city! ( sorry I forgot to take much photos. As everyone was surprised with the food and...
