OS Drug Ueno — Local services in Tokyo

This store is quite small, and we decided to visit based on many reviews suggesting it offers cheaper drugs and vitamins. While this can be true, the store does not provide tax-free shopping, accept credit cards, or even offer plastic bags for purchases. When compared to larger chain stores where after-tax deductions and credit card incentives might make shopping more convenient, it may be preferable to shop elsewhere. During Japan's Golden Week, despite heavy rain, the store was extremely crowded. I would not recommend it if you plan to do all your shopping at once; instead, consider visiting the numerous nearby drug stores for a wider selection...

I visited OS Drug Store in Ueno and had a very unpleasant experience.

I bought a box of pain relief patches (1,050 yen) and two liquid bandages (399 yen each), but I was charged over 2,300 yen in total. The prices clearly didn’t match, but I only realized this after I got home.

What made it worse was the cashier’s attitude. The woman at the counter was extremely rude — when I tried to pay by card, she loudly shouted “Cash only!” in a very unfriendly manner, which made me feel embarrassed and upset.

This shop is in a tourist area, so I really hope you’re not taking advantage of tourists by overcharging or being careless with pricing. Either way, this kind of experience is unacceptable. I left the store feeling uncomfortable and disappointed.
