Believe the reviews! These folks are as awful, if not even worse than the reviews say. Went to process a visa application and it escalated to a scene with 7 cops and numerous employees. All throughout the transaction, the staff were being unprofessional, uncouth and downright wrong. To add insult to injury, one staff member took it upon herself to reprimand me on how I placed the money in the tray. This is after I stood in front of her and waited for her to tell me the amount to be paid. If I didn't ask her “how much is it,” I promise you, we'd be there up to now. When I refused to apologize, they decided to return my documents to flex their authority in the situation...compounding their wrongs further and that's where I lost it. They decided that I needed to restart the process, instead of just bringing the additional document upon return (as agreed). This kind of petty behaviour has no place in government transactions.
My protest of being victimized led to security being called, police being called in, photo opp being requested, being berated, a back and forth of he said-she said with all parties...just a waste of time tbh. If this is representative of Taiwan and the PRC, I'm kinda happy it happened before the trip. Enough of an experience to cancel the trip and spend where it's more inviting. The absolute worst sets of humans I've come across as I've transacted business overseas.
PS. It just seems like a culture of uncouth behaviour and structures in place to defend it. The manager, in a rather threatening manner, told me that if I proceeded with the application, they can't guarantee approval. Isn't that the case with all visas but he said this in hope that I'd take their disrespect easier. An absolute waste of my time and energy. If they took the time to realize that the public is awfully unhappy with what they're doing, it could really turn things around for their operations. A 2.5 rating, on Google, for an embassy is ridiculous! They're an absolute joke! #AbuseOfAuthority #Overreach #PettyFolks #SmallMindedPeople #Incompetent #LowLivesPersonified #EmbarassmentsToTheirCountryAndDiplomaticRelationships

Read moreThe office has been following my case since six month ago and they have always been extremely kind and willing to help. The guards at the entrance, the staff who is founding you through the different counters, all the employees always treated me with kindness while being professional. Special mention to Ms. Tosaka, she is definitely the kindest employee I have ever met in my 15 years here in Tokyo! One more thing I felt is that they always give you clear answers with the information you need (this, compared to the same office in my country, was definitely a plus!). The process to obtain my family visa went smoothly and, with all the necessary documents, I could get it in only one week (again, in my country this would be...
Read moreThe WORST SERVICE EVER! Went to go apply for my daughter passport and was going given the worst attitude. I cannot believe they are even allowed to work with such horrible attitude. These two are absolutely not qualified to represent their own country. They were treating every single person like they were idiots and so when I couldn't stand it anymore I tried to get all my documents back and get a refund so that my husband could come back another day to do it, they started acting better so that I could finish it up and not get my money back. I am so ashamed to have my daughter get the taiwan passport from...
