We did the Amsterdam Light festival departure from Leidsekade on Saturday the 16th of December at 18:30. Hire another captain!! I Believe his now was Erik, he was rude, abrasive and completely indecent towards me and my family. We asked (we were with children) if we could bring a small snack on board (because we were with a 4 years old and a 6-year-old and it was dinner time) 2 young folks helping with the boarding, and they said yes. As long as we were mindful of spillage (like French fries with mayo) and drink with a tab on it (no open glasses). We left and went to buy some snacks for the kids and Erik, the captain felt the need to share 3 times (after we told him that we would not eat the food) that if we would be he would stop the boat, wherever we were, and threatened to put us out. We were reasonable people, who spoke calm, asked for permission in advance, and complied with your rules, we paid 63 euro for the tour and it was the WORST start. The rest of the tour we did not enjoy because of his rudeness…the tone was set and the night was gone....
Read moreI dont enjoyed giving a bad review. But I felt people should know all about the awful experience we had before booking this tour.
1.) the one hour cruise only lasted for 40 minutes. 2.) unlike the description online, and as instructed by the ticket office, not all food and drinks were permitted on the boat. the captain became upset seeing a bottle of wine as we boarded and said not to open it. when questioned about this policy, he began screaming, "I am the captain of this boat, nobody else makes my rules". 3.) the captain continued his power trip by yelling to the entire boat, I'm the captain and sharing more rules. he continued to check frequently that his rules were being followed. 4.) the boat setup wasn't ideal. it was a boat with an enclosed roof with windows placed uncomfortably high to see parts of the tour but standing was prohibited. 5.) while departing, some headphones were placed in the wrong bin causing the captain to yell followed by him snatching the bin away and cursing...
Read moreStaff is friendly, you can get tickets quickly and effortlessly online. The captain was funny, but distracted. He accidentally drove into a giant wooden pole and at some point just went somewhere in the back/top of the boat so we were drifting in the canal, sort of blocking the way for people. Something in the cockpit kept beeping and he had to keep turning it off. Not a very reassuring situation, an explanation would have been appropriate for the time. The audio tour was ok, I felt like it was a bit short and could have included some more information. Left earbud didn’t work and they were generally distributed in a giant plastic box, so I hope they were disinfected after the countless...
