Sea of diving schools in Tenerife___ After countless of street vendors trying to sell you excursions like diving I did some research online and found out about this place. Located 200 meters from our hotel it was worth a visit. The people working here are true professionals who know what they are doing with your safety as number one priority. Never dived before so having spoken to two staff members (male and a female) on two different days we decided to book a "try dive". They take their time to explain the program and what to expect and even send you an email containing alot of information about all the aspects of diving.
TRAINING__ Before the dive you will go to the nearby sea with your instructor(s) to practise breathing underwater, equalizing and removing water from within your mask.
THE DIVE__ The dive itself starts off on a sturdy boat (not a small dinghy like all the other dive schools use as we saw around the diving site). After 15/20min? on the boat we arrived at the dive site. There were a couple of other small dinghy boats with snorkelers and divers aswell. The instructors are really patient and calm and will take their time with you at your own pace. After some 'scary' first minutes of relaxing underwater and understanding that you can actually breath down there the dive begins. The instructors will guide you towards some cool spots and show you different kind of fish and even sea turtles. One of them decided my hair looked like a good snack and actually started pulling it. Its such an amazing experience that you should definetely try at this dive school!
TL;DR_ Don't take the offers from the street vendors that offer cheap first time dive experiencies. We are talking about safety and an amazing (first) experience here and not a t-shirt at a shop. For 100 euros (a bit higher than the other schools we saw around) you get (what we saw) better gear, a sturdy boat (not a dinghy you have to climb in yourself and gets thrown around on the waves) and some GREAT instructors. EVERY single staff member is enthousiastic, experienced and quite funny. They make you feel safe and relaxed. Do yourself a favour and book your dive here and only worry about the sea turtle eating your hair instead of your equipment or the professionality of the staff. Amazing place. Thanks alot for our...
Read moreTL;DR: I couldn’t dive due to a sudden ear infection. The shop was inflexible, the front-desk experience felt rude, and their “policy” didn’t allow a reasonable solution—even after they resold my spot for the second day. For a pricier operator, I expected better customer service.
My group of four booked two days of diving and paid in full up front, which I understood was required during busy August. A week before, I developed an ear infection that made diving unsafe. The other three in my group still planned to dive; I intended to sit out.
Given that ear issues can arise unexpectedly for divers, I asked for some flexibility. The shop’s policy within 24 hours of the first dive was “no cancellation unless a replacement is found.” They offered to look for someone to take my spot, and I agreed. I also asked to cancel the second day (which was farther out), but I was told both days were booked as one reservation and the 24-hour rule couldn’t be applied to day two separately.
The staff member I dealt with felt curt and unhelpful. She said only the owner could make exceptions, but he was unavailable before the first dive. I waited until my friends finished their second day to speak with him.
The shop did find someone to take my spot on the second day, so their actual loss was one day of diving. They offered two choices: either a refund for one day or the full amount as in-store credit. I felt the fair outcome—given the medical situation and that they resold day two—was a cash refund for the resold day and store credit for the other day. The owner declined, saying they had to be consistent and would lose money if they made that concession. Even when I offered to purchase something of lesser value than the trip, he refused.
In the end, I felt they kept my money despite a legitimate medical issue and despite rebooking my spot for one of the days. My friends said the diving itself was good, but the boat was old and noisy, and there were no snacks or water during the surface interval. Considering the higher price point, I expected better service and...
Read moreThe best dive centre, period!
I usually do not post reviews, but on this occasion, I need to do it to praise how incredible this place is and how lucky I am to discover it.
I've been to many dive centres all over the world, but Blue Bottom is by far the best!
All of the necessary equipment was already prepared, and the day's dive schedule was posted on a board with the names of buddy teams and dive leaders - remarkable, I have never seen this before.
The team at Blue Bottom Dive Centre was very helpful, friendly, and professional, with a strong focus on health and safety, as well as excellent customer service. The boat is very spacious and professional, and the equipment they use is the best on the market
I obtained my PADI Advanced Open Water and Enriched Air Nitrox certificates by diving with Federico and his team at Blue Bottom Dive Centre.
My 8-year-old son went diving a few times with Federico’s team in the lagoon and felt very safe. He enjoyed it so much that he kept talking about it and wanted to do it again soon. He's also excited to turn 10 so that he can try proper diving with Federico 😊.
Blue Bottom Diving Centre deserves 10 stars, not just 5. Federico is so passionate about what he does, and from the first minute, it feels like you are diving with your best friends. 😊
Due to the exceptional quality of this centre, I am excited to return to the same location and see everyone once more.
