Bonadea II - Diomedea

A perfect small-group experience at sea!

We had an amazing time on the Bonadea II – Diomedea with Sergio, el capitán, who was the only crew member on the boat. It was just our family (two adults and two kids, ages 8 and 4) plus two other adults — a total of six people — making the trip personal and relaxed.

Sergio handled everything skillfully, from steering the boat to navigating tight turns, making the ride safe and smooth while still fun. We were lucky to see dolphins and pilot whales in their natural environment — absolutely magical.

On the way back, we even picked up a few pieces of plastic floating in the water, which really showed that Sergio is a nature-loving person who cares about the environment and the animals. The boat was clean, safe, and well-equipped for a small group.

I couldn't have made a better choice! Seeing animals free, in their natural environment is what I enjoy most, but only as long as it's not causing them any damage or disconfort. Captain Sergio took me and my mom on an unforgettable, but responsible trip. He shared lots of information about the species, their behaviour. Never approached the amazing mammals with speed and noise. He turned the engine off long before not to scare them, and to allow them to come and see us only if they wanted to. We saw bottlenose and spotted dolphins, as well as pilot whales. In total, few dozens of them - adults and babies. The boat is just for 6 passengers, so you can approach and see better the dolphin and whale pods, without all the noise, music and people crowds from the larger commercial boats. To say I recommend Captain Sergio and his boat is an understatement. Whenever I'll be back in Tenerife, I will only chose to take the trip with him. Muchas gracias Capitan de mi parte...

We booked this trip to avoid the big booze cruise boats, and were very satisfied with it. They do not sail very fast, but they do explain about all the animals we encounter along the way. It took longer than usual on this trip to find the pilot whales (that's nature), but in the end we did manage to find them, and our trip took a little longer as a result. Expect to stay with the group of whales or dolphins you find for no longer than 20-30 minutes, as I believe that is the law in Spain. Also, my wife got a little sea-sick, and they are very helpful and considerate when that happens. Lastly, you get offered a free drink after you have seen the whales, which was also nice.
