On a cold January 6th, 2019, we visited the Royal Palace, Madrid, Spain and were enchanted by the magnificence of the location.
While it is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family, it is now only used for official occasions and ceremonies.
It is impressive, with 135,000 square metres (1,450,000 sq ft) of floor space, and one of the largest in Europe, offering 3,418 rooms.
No... the tour we took does not take us to all the rooms or we would have been exhausted but we got to visit a large number of rather important rooms. We were not allowed to take photos beyond those where the King and Queen reside.
The Royal Family resides today in the Palace of Zarzuela.
Patrimonio del Pueblo or owned by the Spanish State, visitors the world over can admire the grandeur of the architecture, park, and church.
Located in Calle de Bailén ("Bailén Street"), western part of downtown Madrid, east of the Manzanares River, and is accessible from the Ópera metro station.
