Nara Thai Restaurant, located in the heart of Colombo 03, proved to be a culinary gem that transported me to the vibrant flavors of Thailand. My visit to this restaurant was a truly exceptional experience, as I savored a delightful assortment of their dishes.

To start, the Pineapple Chicken Fried Rice was a taste of Thai heaven. The combination of succulent chicken, perfectly cooked rice, and the sweet tang of pineapple was a burst of exquisite flavors. It was both comforting and exhilarating, leaving me eager to explore more.

The Seafood Noodles were another outstanding dish. The noodle texture was spot-on, and the seafood was not just fresh but abundant, adding a delectable richness to the savory sauce. The taste was authentic and evocative of Thailand’s coastal culinary treasures.

The visually striking Blue Chicken Fried Rice with Cashew was not just a treat for the palate but also a feast for the eyes. The use of butterfly pea flower to color the rice was a clever touch, and the cashews provided a delightful crunch. It was a visually and gastronomically stunning creation.

The Sizzled Stir-Fried Meats brought an element of drama to the table. The sizzling platter of perfectly cooked meats and a rainbow of fresh vegetables was a theatrical delight. The aroma and flavors were irresistible, and the dish was a symphony of taste and texture.

The Chicken Wonton made for a perfect appetizer. The wontons were expertly fried, maintaining a crispy exterior while housing delectably seasoned chicken on the inside. Each bite was a delightful burst of flavors that left me craving for more.

For beverages, I indulged in the Lychee Juice and Iced Tea. The Lychee Juice was refreshingly sweet and complemented the spicy Thai dishes wonderfully. The Iced Tea was the perfect companion, offering a calming balance to the bold flavors.

The Chicken BBQ was a grand finale to my culinary journey at Nara Thai. The chicken was tender, beautifully marinated, and grilled to perfection. It delivered the smoky, aromatic essence of Thai barbecue that was irresistible.

The restaurant’s ambiance was warm and inviting, with a Thai-inspired décor that created an authentic atmosphere. The staff was gracious, knowledgeable, and provided impeccable service.

I wanted some Thai food this evening and was really looking forward to some authentic food. I chose this restaurant as it’s near my hotel and I didn’t want to ride in a tuk tuk after my meal. The decor was not very Thai at all. Purple and white chairs that were comfortable enough just not that traditional. Maybe it’s the theme of the restaurant, the staff are in purple polo shirts and who seem like supervising positions, purple shirts.

I’m seated under a powerful a/c and ask to have it lowered so I don’t catch hypothermia. The three remaining table mats and cutlery are removed and I’m shown a menu. I ordered the vegetable spring rolls, red beef curry and chicken fried rice. The restaurant wasn’t busy when I arrived but three other tables soon were occupied. Families reach for their phones as soon as they’re seated.

I ordered a bottle of mineral water, some lime slices and ice. It all arrived separately as clearly there’s a breakdown in communication. Before I eat my meal, I go to wash my hands at a sink, typically in Sri Lanka, there’s no dryer or paper towels to dry your hands! The spring rolls and chilli dip arrive. They’re crispy and very tasty. Oh I must be in for a good meal was my initial thought.

Unfortunately that wasn’t to be the case. The nice food was short lived. The chicken fried rice that followed was far more Chinese flavours and the chicken was tasteless. It was enough for two people, so a hearty portion. The beef curry was a disaster though. I’ve had plenty of red beef curries when in Thailand and other countries.

The beef was chewy and really poor quality. The sauce was not typically Thai at all. When my server asked if I was happy with the meal, I told him my opinion and he said he’d inform the chef. “What’s the chef going to do about it?” I asked. A puzzled and bewildered face just gazed back at me. Staff wander through the restaurant checking their phones, hands in their pockets and really look miserable. I had a few spoonfuls of the curry before leaving it altogether. I’ve had far better street food than...

Nara Thai is an excellent Thai restaurant that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a pleasant atmosphere. The food is absolutely fantastic, with a wide variety of traditional Thai dishes that are cooked to perfection. Whether you're a fan of spicy curries or refreshing salads, Nara Thai has something for everyone.

One of the standout features of Nara Thai is the exceptional service provided by the staff. From the moment you walk in the door, you'll be greeted with a warm welcome and attentive service throughout your meal. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and are happy to provide recommendations based on your preferences. They go above and beyond to make sure that every guest feels comfortable and well taken care of.

Another positive aspect of Nara Thai is the generous portion sizes. The dishes are served in ample portions, so you'll definitely get your money's worth. Whether you're dining alone or with a group, you won't leave Nara Thai feeling hungry.

The restaurant also has ample parking, which is a major plus in any urban area. You won't have to worry about driving around searching for a parking spot or paying for expensive parking garages. The convenience of the parking makes it easy to enjoy a delicious meal at Nara Thai.

Finally, the ambiance of the restaurant is top-notch. The decor is tasteful and elegant, with plenty of Thai-inspired elements that add to the overall atmosphere. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just enjoying a casual dinner with friends, Nara Thai provides the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience.

Overall, I would highly recommend Nara Thai to anyone looking for a fantastic Thai meal in a welcoming atmosphere. With delicious food, exceptional service, generous portions, convenient parking, and a beautiful ambiance, Nara Thai has everything you could ask for in...

Very disappointing restaurant. Don’t be fooled by the attractive images as the food doesn’t reflect the given promise. It was my first time trying Nara Thai today and I must say it will be the one and only. The server who greeted us seemed very shy, not motivated and had no smiley or welcoming face or attitude. You expect some sort of warm welcome when you enter a restaurant but not the case here. Furthermore, the food wasn’t excellent either. We ordered a papaya salad which was good, a vegetarian Tom yum soup that actually came with chicken in it when I had specifically told that I am a vegetarian. After sending the soup back, I was given the vegetarian one. The server apologized for the mistake, however the tofu pieces were very big and not nicely cut. There is no attention to detail in the dishes. The next dish, the seafood kang phad karee was very plain and lacked of flavor. As desert we tried the mango sticky rice which was somewhat ok but really not the best. There were 3 different people working there but our waiter went missing. We had to wait a bit until somebody noticed that we were done with the food and for them to take away the dishes. None of the staff had a friendly attitude. I have had much better Thai food in Colombo and would not recommend this place. On top of that, this restaurant needs a severe cleanup and renovation. The tables were sticky, the waiter could not even remove my table mat or even pick up the sauce tray that had been placed on the table because of the stickiness! There was dirt and rust under the tables and the sofas were not properly cleaned. I had heard good comments about Nara sometime ago but the reality is completely different. Hope the staff will take action and consider the feedback.
