Read moreToday I visited Abans Apple sales outlet at colombo city center shopping mall and had the most horrible experience that made me write this review. I wanted to purchase an Apple charging chord for my IPhone and was about to pay cash and when purchasing they asked for my mobile phone number and I said it’s my private information and that I don’t wish to share this because inevitably these data bases are sold to other third parties and they inundate the phone with messages and phone calls to sell something or the other!. So then, they requested my email address because they can only email the invoice to which I agreed. But before that they asked me to verify the email after receiving a pin code. I told them why would I want to verify an email address that they require to send their invoice to me ? Then they said that they cannot sell the item if I don’t verify my email as if I’m doing some kind of online transaction and I’m obliged to provide this inforMation to give them the SALE. How horrible the attitude of the sales people and how horrible if the company actually forces you to provide all this information even though as a customer we are the ones purchasing the items from them. I today realized that with such a horrible sales culture and untrained sales staff with ridiculous processes that they were willing to let go of a sale even in these tough times for all businesses! I was willing to spend LKR 12,800 to buy the item from the Abans store and they weren’t interested to sell this item at all! I can’t imagine how any company can grow with untrained sales people like this or ridiculous processes that prevent a genuine purchase from their outlet. I went around Colombo and bought the same original product for LKR 4,800 ( at 1/3rd the price! ) . My main complaint is that if they were willing to let go of a cash sale what good is it to keep sales people in the store or have ridiculous processes that prevent buyers from purchasing the items?! I rate this experience one of the worst in an already horrible sales...
