Normal portion size, tasty food, generally good value for money. I've listed feedback on dishes I've had personally, and ones that I've got direct feedback on. I have not mentioned prawns, which is the main part of this place, as I am a vegetarian and I didn't get direct feedback from anyone on those - but it is the style in which it is cooked that makes the difference. It was refreshing that a place like this had vegetarian options, and a nice spicy option as well! The outlet at Ananda Coomarawamy Mawatha has limited space for large crowds. They have a separate space that can accommodate about 15 people. The space is flooded with sunlight and looks nice. They have a good-sized parking area - not very large, but not too small either, especially considering the area.
Sweet potato fries - I'm not a big fan of this anyway, coz after a while it gets too starchy and boring in the mouth. They don't have regular fries. Spring rolls - A friend had it and liked it. Iced Milo - Standard. Would think twice before spending a whole 600 bucks on it. They heap Milo powder at the top, mix it well before drinking for the best flavour. King Coconut - Looks nice and photogenic. Costs 190/-, which is the price of 3 king coconuts you could buy on the roadside. However, if you're concerned about all the prawns/sea food being too heaty, a good option at your fingertips. Garlic Roast Bread - Soft, and yummy. You get 4 pieces; equivalent to one big roast paan. It's enough for one person with a normal appetite. Comes accompanied with a cucumber salad. Egg Fried Rice - The quantity of rice looks small initially, but the whole meal is very filling. It comes accompanied with pol sambol and onion salad. When they say egg fried rice, they mean that the rice is mixed with just egg (no veggies). 3 types of mushroom made in the Northern Twist style (Jaffna curry) - This was super spicy and delicious and I absolutely loved it! (you may want to pair with a cooling drink to handle the spice level). 3 types of mushroom made in the Maharaja Makhani style (butter masala) - This was not the best combo. I don't think this style suits the mushroom that well. It was too creamy for me with too little spice, slightly sour and gets boring after a couple of bites. It was alright, but I would never order it again. Fish and Chips - A friend had the fish and chips and loved it. Lobster Biryani - A friend had it and liked it, but it was a huge portion. Could have been shared. The lobster does not come separately, it had been mixed in with the rice, so the shells are empty. Wild Mushroom Risotto - A friend had it and did not like it at all. It was bland and had too little mushroom. Shrimp Stew in a Bread Bowl - A friend had it and liked it a lot. The bread can be scraped from the inside and had with the stew. She left the outer covering of the bread bowl, but ate the cover - said it was a sufficient portion on its own (paired with a drink). Rasamali Tres Leches - It was sweet and tasted very Indian. Wasn't my type of thing at all. Milk Toffee - Yummy with...

Read moreOne of the nicest seafood restaurants I’ve come across in Sri Lanka has to be Prawn Crazy simply because of the wonderful dishes, incredible serving sizes and friendly staff members who make the dining experience completely worth it! Prawns are my absolute favourite so I’d enjoy them whenever I get the chance and so I decided to visit this local Sri Lankan eatery that has many locations across the Sri Lankan capital and offers some tasty dishes that are worth your time and money! As a tourist in Sri Lanka, this is surely one place that’ll satisfy your tastebuds and help you appreciate locally caught seafood that’s prepared beautifully!
I tried the Prawn Souffle Toast first which was a rich and creamy prawn soufflé filled in a homemade tartlet with gratin and hollandaise sauce. The combination of these flavours and textures won me over before I had even tasted it because it looks so appetizing and the taste certainly did not disappoint! It’s quite a filling and delicious way to kick off the meal!
Something I loved about their menu was how the customers can choose the base (the seafood), cooking style and carb (rice or breads) themselves and just mix and match according to their liking which makes it quite fun and leaves little room for dissatisfaction as you’ll choose according to your liking! Their seafood is so fresh and you can see from the taste that everything they use is high quality! I especially loved their Garlic Fried Rice along with the seafood I had as it makes the perfect accompaniment!
Moreover, I also tried several other things to properly come to a conclusion of whether this is a restaurant I’d return to or recommend to others and every dish generally seemed to meet or exceed expectations! The ISSO Mee Goreng with prawns and wok charred noodles came together beautifully to create a hearty dish that I thoroughly enjoyed! I also like how they are not stingy with their serving sizes which is what a customer would want, especially when having Seafood outside which is generally more expensive. The passionfruit lemonade was the perfect drink to enjoy with all of this for me and the Buffalo Curd with Milk Toffee Crumble was a totally new and refreshing dessert for me to try and I...
