Terrible attitude from who I assume was the owner. I was down by the water working on my boat engine (you can see it from the shop) and realized I had forgot to bring a screwdriver. Thinking a bike rental shop might have one, I stopped by and politely asked if I could borrow it.
Of course, no one is obligated to lend out tools, but instead of a simple, polite refusal, the owner just repeated in a harsh and dismissive tone: “We don’t lend tools out, we don’t lend tools out.” The attitude was unnecessarily off-putting. Why he was so aggressive, I have no idea. Honestly, he could just have hold my ID as collateral or asked for some cash. It’s not like anyone would steal a screwdriver.
I instead went up the block to Sportson bike-shop, where the staff were incredibly friendly, happily offered lending me any tool I needed, and even took time to discuss the engine problem with me. Clear difference in attitude, it's sad to see such rudeness on Kungsholmen, so much for being neighbourly and helpful.
I’m sure the bikes here are fine, but the interaction was easily the rudest “help” I’ve had in Stockholm. I’d be much more mindful of how to treat people in the area you operate. Unfortunately, my engine is still broken, but that's because of my non existing...
Read moreVery good prices (270 SEK per person for 2 hrs), great staff and setup. We went for the kayak rentals and biked on city bikes to the main office. We didn’t book ahead for the kayaks as we saw many openings online, so decided to just ask on arrival. The lady at the desk was very nice and instructed us where to head for the kayaking dock, and offered free locker space and washroom time before we left. You pay at the dock. We took a few things with us to the dock which we we able to leave there under the eye of the guy manning the dock - no issues. The guy got us all set up, gave us the option of double or singles, and offered quick instructions. He answered all questions and made us feel perfectly safe despite some of us being new to the experience. They also provide covers while kayaking to make sure you stay warm and dry (it covers the entire opening of the kayak so water doesn’t spill in). Once in the water you have the freedom to go wherever you’re comfortable, and just told to stay clear of boat traffic. No issues overall, we kayaked both ways and found one way was calmer than the other. We were able to kayak towards the open water area and in front of city hall. A peaceful experience that you can take at...
Read moreHad a great time cyling off beyond Stockholm on a bike rented from Stockholm Adventures. Mitch was very helpful in setting it up when there were few bikes available. However, while the 3 hour cycling tour (a separate gig w/ Stockholm Adventures) took us to see fabulous sights around the city, the tour guiding was poor. This was very disappointing as I'd booked the tour in the hopes of hearing a lot about the history of the town and its buildings, rather than whimsical 'fun facts' that were not fun but rather irrelevant. Neither did the disquisitions on current tax laws/healthcare (from guides' apparently limited personal experience) lend anything positive to the tour. The depth of historical knowledge, expected on a tour like this, was sadly lacking. Instead, what we got was vague stories about 'conflicts' and often no year/era to place them. This would have been fine had it been a free tour, but it cost a fair whack and so, to my mind, Stockholm Adventures really do need to honour the high price they are charging their customers with a guide who really knows their stuff. We would have learnt far more from a cursory...
