ORIGINAL REVIEW: I don't really understand the people who give this place a 5 star rating. The place is just a tourist trap nothing more. There's nothing authentic there. In reality it would deserve only 1 star but I've decided to give it 2 because people tends to ignore 1 star reviews of a place that has many 5 star ratings. But for those who care about the facts... You can buy some T-shirts there as well as some priceless souvenirs. The same souvenirs you can find anywhere in the world. The only difference is the text "... Thailand ..." on them. And some food stalls of course. Food stalls that all offers the same low quality tasteless food. The meals are far away from being authentic. And even if you choose the most spicy version of a meal you got a baby food adapted for westerners. And the worst of all... the food there is not as fresh as it is common elsewhere in Thailand. The meals are not prepared in front of you as it is common at the most street food stalls in the region. Guess why. If you find this review to be too hard or emotional it is not. It's just about the facts. You can simply find very tasty, more authentic and cheeper food from other real street food vendors elsewhere. My advice is simple. Avoid that place. Or even better... go there but look around first. Do you see any Thai people eating there? Then think again and decide yourself. ;)

UPDATE: The market has an outdoor part which was unfortunately not open during our first visit. The outdoor part is much more authentic, the food is tastier, fresh and prepared in front of you, prices are lower, and yes... local people eat here too. Kata Walking Street Market (also known as Kata Night Market) is an absolute must-visit if you’re in the area. We ended up coming back multiple times during our stay in Phuket because there’s just so much to enjoy and every visit felt like a new experience.

The market is a buzzing hub of flavours, with an incredible range of food to suit every craving. From delicious local Thai dishes packed with authentic flavour to freshly grilled seafood, juicy burgers, handmade pizzas, and even jacket potatoes, yes, really! There’s something for everyone here, whether you're after a quick snack or a full-on feast.

Desserts are next level too, with everything from Thai sweets to indulgent crepes and fresh fruit smoothies. The drink options are endless, with stalls offering fresh juices, cocktails, beers, iced teas, and more all at very reasonable prices.

One of the great things about Kata Night Market is the mix of food stalls and small sit-down restaurants that are woven into the space. It creates a laid-back and social vibe where you can try a bit of everything without breaking the bank. Honestly, the prices are so affordable, you’ll start to question why you’d even bother booking a traditional restaurant elsewhere in Kata, the only drawback is the lack of air conditioning, which can make some evenings sweaty hard work. But it’s all part of the lively market atmosphere.

A market with a lot of small stores where everyone kinda is selling the same thingsbut the food part was good. A good variation of different things to a good price. The coconut Shake 🥥 is a must try only 50baht (they take a fresh coconut and put the juice together with the coconut meat and then add a little coconut cream and ice - and it turns out to be the best shake).

Beside this there is a cute little stand which just mix papaya salad for only 80 baht, it is very nice and fresh and most importantly tasty (if you like spicy then I recommend to have two chilies 🌶️).

Then I can recommend the bbq meat stand where you should try the grill steak it is yummy and so nicely marinated with a nice chili sauce on the side. It is sold based on grams and cost 200 baht per. gram 🥩

Another place which I loved was the stand where the guy only sell shrimps - you pick you own shrimps and then he cooks them for you 🦐 They are so fresh and cook nicely with butter and garlic 🧄 🧈. What is not to like with this combination. The only thing is that you cannot avoid to get greasy fingers eating this but you just have to dig-in. They are sold in pieces you want to take. So 15 shrimps is 200 baht.

Last the Pad Thai with chicken at one of the big wok stand does an amazing work for only 80 baht and taste amazing but recommend to eat it on the spot. It is one of the best Pad Thai I have had in Phuket after trying at least 10...
