ClubMed Phuket is probably the worst hotel resort we have ever stayed in. We are in our late 60’s and travelled to club Med Phuket with our children and grandchildren for a 14 night stay. First the positives. Good GO’s, good location. That’s it. Now the negatives. When travelling with little kids aged 5 and under and their dinning room opens at 6.30pm for dinner does club Med understand that this is way past their feeding time. By then the kids are hungry and cranky. The shows begin at 8.45 pm where most kids have their bed time and parents have to attend to them. Food was way under average and repetitive. Even agreed so by different staff who sat and ate with us at times. Rooms were a definate 2 star at best. Remembering that club Med charges an average $500 per night per couple . We paid $2500 per night for the 6 adults and 4 children. For that money , club Med Phuket charges $4 for a fresh coconut.!!! What happened to “all inclusive”? We were there for 14 nights long enough to get intimately friendly with some of the staff called GO’s. They confided in my wife and I that they were overworked and underpaid. Paid for an 8 hour day but worked 14 to 15 hours still forced to have a smile and be energetic after looking after and entertaining kids all day. This is akin to slave labour. If they were sick they were still expected to work no matter what. All this came from many staff members. Would you as guests still like to support an organisation such as club Med Phuket. French head of staff Vincent only paid attention to French and European visitors ignoring the rest. This is not professional. For the $34,000 we paid we could have done a lot better for a fifth of the price at OZO or Novotel 5 mins walk away also with kids club , activities and breakfast. We failed by not researching properly before booking but trusting and relying too much on the brand of club Med to take care of us. Most days we adults had to entertain ourselves with little or no activities for over 15years or adults. Teenaged people were bored playing in the pool all day with little other options. I am writing this review not to archive damming club Med but to give a review I hope future guests will read and think about other alternatives. There are so many other alternatives which are very modern more luxurious and value for your dollar spent. I stated all this and more on TripAdvisor review and as expected as I stated in my review received a reply stating that their rooms were being renovated Ian’s not responding to anything else. The official public figures for ClubMed Phuket is their profit is down by 80%. I wonder why. Management really needs to review the village head of this establishment and figure on how they can improve. Timings of meal times, availability of food for the young ones at a decent time, family friendly show timings, food quality and assortment. A cruise has 2 timings for everything. Meals, shows activities etc. ClubMed Phuket is the last place I would recommend future quests stay . This is not a review because of sour grapes. This is a productive review to warn future guests of what to expect. Expect no value for your precious dollar. I even saw on more than one occasion the head of village going at meal times to different food stations picking up finger food with his hands and eating while walking to another station with no plate no hygiene. We’ve just recovered from a world epidemic. Does he realise this is a very poor example. Lastly , swimming pool has mould on the side walls and bottom and never scrubbed just vacuumed. Anyway I think those of you who want to get the message has got the message by now. Good luck on your travels. I just had in July 2024 friends return from club med Phuket . The rooms have been somewhat upgraded. But everything else , food, service value for money, staff especially management still the same 1 star. Dissapointing. I really thought they would have pick up their game. Staff totally unhappy. Management needs to look at this and do some major changes. I would never ever recommend...
Read moreIn the first few days I stayed at Club med Thailand, I was hesitant to join the teens club as I didn’t know anyone there. On my fourth day I attempted the trapeze and met Cara the G.O working with the teens club. It was the first time we met but she was so enthusiastic and made me feel so welcome. Everytime I did a trick on the trapeze, Cara was cheering for me on the sideline along with the rest of the circus crew:Kimmy, Adib, Chloe, Jeremie, Alicia, Golf and Jamal. Honestly I wouldn’t have done it as many times as I did without their encouragement. Every single time I came down all of them either high fived me or cheered for me and then gave me tips and pointers on what I needed to improve on. All of them didn’t just make my trapezing experience better they made my whole holiday so much better. I would walk around and Cara would come behind and tickle me, then she would get me to come play Uno with her and the teens and it would make my day because she made me feel so included. On one of my last nights after a show, I was headed back to my room because I didn’t have anyone to dance with and I didn’t want to go by myself, Kimmy (from the circus team) came up behind me and refused to let me go back to my room without dancing with her first. Since she was dancing at the front she found Cara to dance with me and she joined in later after she finished her performance. I had so much fun dancing and laughing with them that I didn’t notice how many hours went past. The next day Cara encouraged me to sit with the teens club for lunch, but I didn’t know anyone so I was shy, Cara marched me to the table and announced that they had a new friend joining them and introduced me to the other teens. Cara’s confidence sparked the same in me and I had such a great time sitting with them. After lunch all the other teens had left to go with their families and me and Cara were still eating, I remember we spent at least another 35 min just talking about where we were from, our hobbies and life goals. It’s not easy to motivate teens but Cara did it flawlessly, sometimes we didn’t just join in for fun but we joined in so we didn’t let her down. On my second attempt at trapezing I learnt how to backflip, and on my third attempt I learnt how to do the catch. I was very nervous but Chloe and Kimmy assured me everything would be okay and I just needed to be confident. Jamal was my catcher and though he made it look so easy he was supportive and gave me tips with the practice turns beforehand. On the day after that I did the trapeze again and Golf was the one pulling the rope, when I came down he would give me a positive smile and gave me so much help to assist me for my next jump. Adib had told me after I finished my last jump for the morning to come back later that day to do a different type of catch, he had so much energy and convinced me along with Cara to go play water polo after. Me and him were on opposite teams and he made the game so much more fun since we are both competitive. Since I did the trapeze so many times, the staff that i was closest to was all the circus crew and of course Cara. I remember on my last day Kimmy and I sat down for a drink and just talking about what she wanted to do in life and how long she’s been working in ClubMed, she said she wanted to work in the Club meds out of Asia as she’s worked in three of the Club Meds in Asia and she wanted to explore a different part of the world. I told her she definitely deserves it and to apply for it. It was very interesting to see things from her side of view. All in all my holiday In club med Thailand was very enjoyable and it wouldn’t have been without your...
Read moreThis is my review on Club Med Phuket. 5th trip to a ClubMed.
First time to Club Med Phuket. As usual I'll drop my review and feedback on our experience.
4 of us went there. My wife and myself. My 14yr old girl teen and my 6yr old girl.
Overall Club Med Phuket is an awesome place and we initially thought of going to Bali next but we are deciding to come back to CM Phuket for 2026 as well.
The F&B is awesome. We know some familiar faces, Edmund, Prakash. They are superb as always. They manage the restaurant flawlessly. Guys keep up the great work. Even you just started, you guys are everywhere working on issues and managing guest. We then met Tonky the magician. He is a tall handsome Japanese looking Indonesian. Always with a smile, always trying to do some magic trick for my 6yr old. It just warms my heart to step into F&B. The F&B team and their food is superb, great food, respectful staff. A++++ from us.
Next is mini club. You guys took my 6yr old and she is so happy being there. Great work u guys. All of you. My smallest was so happy, you guys made her do a show and she was loving it. I appreciate the great help to offload the care of my smallest under your care. We had no worries at all. A++++ as well for mini club.
When the smallest was taken cared well, it gave us some time to try out the snorkelling session. The supervisor, GO Gede was super friendly. From Bali so we quickly broke into Bahasa talking, he had his boys GO Sand and Win take care of us. Sand was with us snorkelling and Win had dinner with us. Awesome young Thai boys so much nice stories from these boys. Please keep up the awesome smiles and adventurous spirit. When we come from a working stressful work life to a holiday like this, this is exactly people we want to bump into.
My wife tried the Muay Thai boxing and she kept talking about the jokes the trainer was doing and she loved it so much. She had so much of nice things to tell about GO Mr.San and he made the entire group laughing and also thought them a thing or two about boxing. Thank you.
I love archery and I had GO Bimo all the way to greet me. Super friendly and he made some interesting challenges and I got 2 "prize" from him. Good job bro.
A few other GO which we bumped into whom left an impression, GO Nadia from the bar, GO Tanjung.. great job greeting guest and making them feel at home.
Also I would like to credit the guards at the entrance, these guys are tracking our movement when we leave Club Med and they are super respectful, especially when we can speak Bahasa. Thank you for keeping it a safer place.
Ah before I forget, I came here during my Birthday and I told my family to keep it hush-hush. I had a very peaceful and enjoyable birthday but when I came into my room that day, I was shocked reception noted my birthday and I had a lovely deco on my bed wishing me and Edmund from F&B had a small birthday cake celebration. That was really nice of Club Med.
Last but not least, to the housekeeping folks whom endlessly keep moving about and cleaning the place and we had our possessions in the room, nothing was lost, room was clean. They were so hardworking. They deserve a pat on their back.
I strongly believed I'll be going to Club Med Phuket once and I want to head to Bintan or Bali next, however I think Tonky cast a spell on us. We are coming back again next year and then we will head to other Club Meds.
