Indian restaurants are usually safe for me. I'm so used to having no problems at Indian restaurants in Bangkok that I wasn't as careful as I should have been at this restaurant. They understood gluten-free very well, but they did not understand vegan. We ordered 4 dishes, after checking they were all gf and vegan. We were assured they were. One of them actually had paneer in it. I first thought it might be tofu but when I touched it with my fork, it was clearly not tofu. We were left with 3 dishes. And I kept telling my husband I could tell there was ghee. When leaving, I asked a man sitting outside if he was the owner. He said he was the manager. I asked him if they used ghee or oil. He said ghee. So I told him he should train his staff properly on what vegan means. They clearly don't understand the difference between vegan and vegetarian. It was our first time there and also our last. The food isn't bad, portions are decent but don't tell customers the food is vegan when it's not. I find this very upsetting. Manager asked me which girl told me it was vegan. Clearly none of them knew better, so from my point of view this is a training issue. Train them on what vegan means and tell them not to be scared of saying they don't know for sure and that they will check with the chef. I'd rather have a waitress take 5 extra minutes to check and double check than eat food that goes against my values (I do not want to eat animal products) and could potentially make me ill (my body doesn't do well...
Read moreVery disappointing. We ate here twice in 2019 and we were quite looking forward to our Indian meal. No matter where we go (many Asian and European countries), we always order mango lassi, Butter chicken, chicken Vindaloo paired with garlic/cheese nan and some basmati rice. For my 4 years old we ordered strawberry soda, french fries and nuggets. The taste of the curries had absolutely no depth, butter chicken usually tastes a bit sweet but here it was mostly salty. Both curries tasted quite similar which was strange(?). Only the mango lassi was tasty. This was so far our most expensive meal in Phuket; 1690 baht for 2 adults and 1 child. We don't mind paying a bit more for a meal, but this was not worth the money. Won't recommend and won't come back.
@Raja: You are right, we found the taste of the curries to our liking disappointing but the nan were okay. I adjusted it to 2**, one star was unfair. Vindaloo is usually very fiery, but yours was just salty with no heat at all. Like I said, we don't mind paying a bit more for a meal as long as the food is tasty. I do appreciate your reaction. We might get in touch with you for a rematch, but to be honest we're not keen on paying again for food that didn't convince us. Thanks for...
