About Face Electrolysis, IPL & Beauty Clinic — Local services in Great Britain

I have been going for electrolysis every two weeks at About Face 2 august 2021. It is always clean, everyone is very nice and professional. Of course, the procedure is long and hurts, but they all have been extremely nice and helpful, answered all my questions, recommending me numbing cream and products to help the healing process… And never ever shamed me about anything. I have met so many professionals who had disrespectful comments about my hairs, or even just despising looks… never at About Face. Never anyone there questioned my choices or my knowledge about my own health, which is SO REFRESHING (to give you an example because I know it is a very vulnerable position to be in and some of you might be anxious about it/ had bad experience in other salons so it might help to get examples for you to feel safer to go… for instance, I have PCOS. I know that for people like me, laser and IPL have risks of paradoxical hair growth, and it is a very little known fact, even by professionals. On my first appointment, the person who took me in advised me laser given the large zone to cover; I told her about my worries, and she said « no worries, I didn’t know about this, and never had the case. However, know electrolysis might be longer and more expensive for you, but if it’s what you feel more comfortable with, let’s do electrolysis ». Whereas another salon that is closer to my home told me the month before that I was wrong (i’m not), and that it was IPL or nothing, disregarding my feelings and knowledge of my own condition i have been doing research on for almost 10 years.). For your information as well, English is not my first language and they always made sure i understand everything. Also, I have seen online many recommendations by trans people looking for a safe place to get hair removal, and I have never witnessed an ounce of homophobia, transphobia or racism there.

Appalling customer service. I have been using this salon for numerous times however I am thoroughly disappointed with the service I received this time.

Booked my full facial, brow wax and a session of advanced electrolysis with them for October back in July. I have specifically asked for a preferred therapist for these treatments, also phoned to double check TWICE that it will be the specific therapist that I asked for. Was all excited for my session after three months of waiting and turned up on the day itself only to be told that my preferred therapist has training sessions to do hence have moved my appointment for a different therapist, they explained they have done it because it was not marked on my file that I asked for a specific therapist ? I also have been told that I cannot do an advanced electrolysis without a prior consultation session hence treatment cannot be done on this occasion. I am disappointed and annoyed at the fact that no one mentioned anything about the prior advanced electrolysis consultation session and that I have to book it and also I did not receive any communication beforehand about the change of therapist. They explained that there was no way that my preferred therapist could deliver those treatments today because of staff shortage and training has to be conducted. In the end, I left without receiving any of my booked treatments.

I have also requested for a refund but they mentioned that it is not possible and will only be able to be stored as store credit which is ridiculous considering the service that I have received. Furthermore, I had to drive all the way from Fife to attend this appointment only to be disappointed by the service and only received an apology that they have messed up my appointment.

It is absolutely unfair on my end as I am the one who needs to make compromises when it is the company's fault for the lack of correspondence.
