Merchant Navy Memorial — Local services in Liverpool

The Liverpool Naval Memorial is a poignant tribute located at Pier Head on the River Mersey, near the Royal Liver Building and the Museum of Liverpool. It commemorates over 1,400 officers and men of the British Merchant Navy who died while serving with the Royal Navy during the Second World War and have no known grave but the sea.

To address this, over 13,000 Merchant Navy seamen volunteered under a special agreement known as the T.124, which subjected them to naval discipline while retaining their civilian pay and conditions.
