Boots — Local services in London

I booked in for a travel vaccine at 17:15 on the website a few days in advance. I got a call from the pharmacist at 15:30 on the day after I'd already travelled into London to tell me she would be closing at 17:00 so my appointment was cancelled.

I asked her if she could fit me in earlier, after all it was a simple vaccine I needed that would take no time to administer. She got irritable with me and told me it would take 45 minutes. Eventually she told me to go to another store across the road where they'd slot me in easily. When I got to the Waterloo branch they looked bemused and said the pharmacist shouldn't have sent me there without calling them first and they didn't have a pharmacist in store.

I went back to Southbank to complain. The staff called the store manager but he refused to speak to me. Eventually the pharmacist rang me back an hour later to say she could squeeze me in if I came back to the store right away. At that point I didn't want a rude and agitated pharmacist to stick a needle in my arm so I declined.

I sent an email to boots head office to complain. Ten days later and no reply.

In the end I went to my local independent pharmacy and got the vaccine in a short, polite and efficient appointment. I learned an important lesson- big corporate pharmacists don't care about customer service, your local independent...

Pharmacist was the most rude and unhelpful I have ever come across. She clearly wasn’t happy as I stopped her from reading her book, then when I wanted some advice, not one smile or nice word from her. This is a well laid out store, clean and mostly tidy. It’s smaller than the store inside Waterloo station, so if you can’t find what you need in this store, try inside the station, especially if you need a later prescription to be dispensed.
