I paid £4,500 for AviClear at Self London Dermatology and, over a full year later, I haven’t seen any improvement — in fact, my skin seems worse than before sometimes. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this treatment.
I later noticed that the clinic mainly share the same two or three before-and-after results in their marketing, which now makes sense to me after my own outcome.
Acne has affected me for years, and it takes such a toll emotionally. I know how painful it is to look in the mirror and feel discouraged, or even cancel plans because of how your skin looks. I’ve tried many things — from diet changes to various skincare routines — always hoping something would finally work.
When I heard about AviClear, it felt like a last bit of hope. £4,500 is a huge amount of money for me, but I thought if there was even a chance of improvement, it would be worth it. I followed all the aftercare advice and waited the full 12 months, but sadly saw no change.
The treatment itself was also extremely painful — around a 9/10 for me — even compared to other laser treatments I’ve had (facials, hair removal, and tattoo removal).
After reading posts in the AviClear Facebook group, I realised that many others describe similar experiences, which I wish I had looked into more before deciding. It’s a really good resource to hear about other people’s experiences.
Overall, I personally found AviClear to be an expensive mistake that didn’t help my acne. I’m sharing my experience in the hope that it helps others make a more...
Read moreI have had a chronic acne problem for most of my teenage and adult life. I am 38 years old. I have been to numerous dermatologists over the years and followed various different treatment plans - the advice and treatment was never right, nothing ever worked. I came across Dr. Anjali Mahto’s profile on Instagram and followed her account and listened to many of her educational videos on acne, treatment options, reasons, facts. She answered so many of my questions and confronted so many of my fears through her videos. Her own acne journey and the honestly with which she spoke about it through her channel was inspiring. I booked an appointment at the beautiful Harley street clinic and have never looked back since. Dr.Mahto explained my treatment options with all the facts and information I required. Her attention to my specific needs and case was truly exceptional. I have never had someone do such a deep dive into my case history and gave me the correct diagnosis and treatment. I am so so grateful that Dr. Mahto has cured me of my acne problem, given me the confidence I needed and uplifted me in every way. I am currently on her acne management advice and it is working wonderfully. Thank...
Read moreFirstly, I’d like to thank Dr Mahto for writing the Skincare Bible. I have struggled with acne prone skin throughout my teens and most of my adult life. Meaning, I have spent an excessive amount of money and used unnecessary amount of products which were wrong for my skin. Her science-based approach educated me to make better (and much cheaper) choices when buying skincare. This, in combination with Dr Sommerlad’s more personalised skincare advice has given me many “good skin” days lately. Secondly, I have seen fantastic results with the laser treatments they are offering with Katie at Self London and I am convinced that laser is currently the best treatment available for acne. Finally, although aesthetics is not my primary concern, I am a big fan of combination treatments. Who would have thought that a little Profilo with a laser treatment can make such a huge difference! Thanks again - keeping my skin healthy has been such a confidence...
