Despite the poor start with an empty reception desk then overfamiliar Maitre d' (Never met the man in my life that I'm aware of!) dinner was a huge success. The food was exceptionally good classical French cooking. All wines are available by the glass which is a brilliant idea- you really try things you wouldn't normally and can order a bottle if you then like the wine. They should have a shop next door! All the wines we drank were very good and ones I would buy- this is not a wine list for someone wanting to finish off their children's inheritance- there's nothing world class and exceptional on the list and they are perhaps a tad young for British tastes but then with perfectly cooked food like this you don't need those older wines that we normally drink.
The service wasn't the most attentive- it could be improved. We tried to get the attention of staff a few times without them noticing. One asked how my duck was when I'd actually had the fabulous beef but they were polite and helpful. Restaurants need to invest more in training and retaining good staff- this is always the biggest let down these days.
However, for a new opening it's impressive and I'd definitely go back. The sides were unexceptional and need work- but all the rest of our food was truly excellent. Yes, even pudding, which is often a...
Read moreWhat a truly exceptional evening at Les 110 de Taillevent, Cavendish Square. From arrival to the final sweet note, every moment was outstanding. My heartfelt thanks to Guido, Olivia, Marco and the entire front-of-house team — your warmth, attentiveness, and professionalism made all the difference. To Chef and his kitchen team, the meal was exceptional.
I began with a perfectly made Negroni — sharp, balanced and a real treat when made well. The gougères that followed were airy, cheesy, and utterly moreish. I had the Tartare, which was fresh, nicely seasoned and had excellent texture. Dessert was the signature Hot 70% Chocolate Mousse, cocoa sorbet — rich, decadent, and utterly satisfying.
One of the things that really sets Les 110 apart is its wine pairings. The restaurant offers 110 wines by the glass, plus an extensive wine list, and the personal recommendation of the sommelier. This made my wine choices feel both exciting and perfectly matched.
In short: a flawless meal, brilliant service, beautiful food-wine harmony — thanks again to the whole team. I can’t wait...
Read moreI have been to this restaurant about 4 years ago and was curious if Taillevent managed to maintain their standard through the years as its famous name requires. So once the lockdown started easing, I did not hesitate to come for dinner. The food was very good, mostly traditional french but dabbling slightly in fusion. I had a dover sole roll which was delicious, very unexpected and creative dish. The Tarte Tatin dessert was very memorable, highly recommended (it seems expensive at £20 but you can easily share it between 4 people!). Thoroughly enjoyed the chat with the sommelier who told us many interesting things about the wine, if you want to be adventurous and try new wines, they have very interesting pairings from many parts of the world. There was a bit of a mishap with making the order. Basically our order wasn't taken and nobody realised until we inquired about 1 hour later. The staff handled it gracefully and comped the whole meal. All in all, the time flew by and despite the mishap with the order, we had a very pleasant dinner. We...
