I began my search for an engagement ring, as many people do, online. However, not being able to see and feel the real thing is a huge limitation so I decided to go Hatton Garden. I didn't have a clue where to start and as I walked past numerous jewellers I was approached with what can only be described as a sales pitch, which is extremely off-putting.
When I came across Smith & Green and looked at their collection from the outside, Josh came over to say hello. I said I didn't have any real understanding of cut, clarity, colour and carat and he kindly said he show me numerous examples and walk me through the differences. Finally, not a sales pitch but real help and education.
I walked in and Josh immediately made me feel comfortable. He asked me the diamond shape I was looking for and slowly explained the differences between diamond qualities. This helped my understanding immensely and I then left the store to think about my options and felt absolutely no pressure to purchase. To me, this is a huge positive of the way Josh and the staff at Smith & Green go about their business. They inform, help and arm you with the information you need to make the best decision possible, without making you feel uneasy or under pressure.
I returned to the shop a month later. To my surprise, Josh remembered me and we sat down to talk specifics. We went over a few diamond options again then discussed designs. After I left, Josh mailed mock up designs to me to ensure I was happy with them before commissioning the build. On my return, the ring was perfect and just what I had been looking for.
My now fiancee is delighted with the ring and it looks better than I could have imagined. It's slightly too big for her finger and so I contacted Josh to see if he could assist with reducing the size. It's not a problem he said, come in whenever you like. What incredible service. I couldn't recommend Smith & Green highly enough. When you go to Hatton Garden perhaps start your journey elsewhere and then end up here...you'll see the difference in approach and style immediately and have a more enjoyable experience.

Smith & Green was the last of many jewellers that we had been to over the course of 10months of searching - we were very picky! Delighted we finally found somewhere where we were so happy with the service. Non jargon speaking, no obvious and awkward up selling, he was refreshingly straightforward talking and honest. He listened to all of our requests perfectly and produced a ring even better than we had tried to explain. It is absolutely perfect. Exactly what we wanted.
When you are trying to envision the ring it can be difficult, and of course there is the fear that maybe you as the customer arnt explaining correctly exactly what you want, especially when we as customers don’t have all the language, but wow the finished product is A+. He somehow knew what we wanted even though I’m sure we were explaining it in a terrible way!
They had trend pieces and classic pieces to show, proving that they have expertise in all areas, it was fantastic to have a wide span of knowledge and styles under one roof.
Thank you for everything! I’m sure we’ll be back sometime next year for both our bands.

Read moreI can’t rate this place enough. I went in February and spoke to Ella. I told her that I wasn’t going to be buying a ring until August. This didn’t mean I got 1% less than amazing service. She talked me through everything and made everything so clear to me and put no pressure at all on me to come back to them when I was ready to buy a ring. I was so impressed with the service that I didn’t go to any other shops after that visit. When it was time for me to go back in August I popped back to Smith and Green but Ella had left the company. This worried me initially however I spoke to Josh and Omar and they were equally as brilliant with me. They made everything easy for me when it came to buying the ring. They gave me all the assurances I needed when it came to bringing the ring back if my fiancée didn’t like the ring. Fortunately she loved the ring but unfortunately it didn’t quite fit, but They quickly got it resized for me and then when it came back from resizing Josh wasn’t happy so sent it back again to make sure everything was perfect. Hatton Garden can be such a daunting place with so much choice and so many people and shiny things around.
