A DREADFUL EXPERIENCE - Today was probably one of the most dreadful shopping experiences I've had in a long time..
Basically I wanted to buy a dwarf hamster for my younger brothers birthday. After looking we saw a small Dwarf Hamster for sale that we wanted. We then began looking at cages and the sales assistant said the first one we picked up wasn't big enough. I acknowledged that so I of course asked her which ones would be suitable. Uninterested she pointed and stated that they were in the corner of the store - didn't offer to show us and she wasn't busy at all.
So we went and after looking we found a £25 cage that was decent and said that it was suitable for up to 'Two Dwarf Hamsters'. We collected alm the other items such as food, bedding etc. However despite only wanting to buy one hamster the sales assistant dismissed the cage. She stated that it wasn't big enough even though the label on the cage stated that it was. Ironically the glass cabinet that the hamster that they kept it in was smaller that the cage we selected. She demanded that we unnecessarily buy a ridiculously larger cage for £50. And that basically if we didn't we wouldn't be able to purchase the hamster.
Their lack of customer care and cold treatment was frankly appalling. They didn't want to help me and didn't offer advice they had just stuck a pamphlet in my hand. They were rude and condesending and in all I had wasted my time and I was left stressed after an experience that should be pleasurable.
In the end I went to a local independent pet shop a mile up the road and I got a Syrian hamster - I was treated properly, given advice and helped. Do yourselves a favour a go to smaller shop and AVOID pets at home...
Read moreAs a pet show is really lovely. They have very nice animal that look healthy and in good conditions. Prices are quite high. The shop looks and smells nice and clean what is not very usual in pert shops. I bought my lovely bunny there a month ago. I bought all the equipment I needed for him ( cage, toys, bottle, bowl, salt stone, and shavings) Plus 2 bags of food and hay included with the rabbit and cage. The lady was still pressuring me to buy more and more things despite I told her I would buy the rest of the things eventually as I couldn't afford all at the same time and I already bought all the essential things for the first weeks of the rabbit. The most strange is that there was more people there buying bunnies and sitting for a while with them and the other assistants just asked them the basic questions and took some details and let them go. I felt quite stressed as I spent nearly 3 hours in the shop with the lady trying to sell me even her own soul. And after joining to the club card they told me I would get the card and a £10 voucher to spend in the shop but after a month when I already bought all the things the bunny needs I still didn't get anything. I am very happy anyway to have my lovely bunny and he is happy as well after being vaccinated for one year and having his microchip included in the price. Read moreI went to Pets at Home twice over Easter weekend and was given amazing service on both visits. Andy and Nathan helped me on my visits to Pets at Home and were both very knowledgable about the animals and products. As well that it was lovely to see that they both really cared about the animals and gave lots of advice on how to care for them. I purchased a Russian Dwarf Hamster when being served by Andy. After choosing which hamster I wanted Andy then went round the shop with me advising me on the correct cage, food, toys, bedding and accessories for my new pet. It was lovely having Andy help me with this as I hadn’t owned a dwarf hamster before. Andy answered all of my questions and gave great advice. I returned to the store 2 days later as I had a problem with the water bottle that came with the cage that I bought. Nathan provided very friendly and quick service in fixing this problem for me. I was sorted out with a new water bottle and given advice on how to ensure it’s working correctly. Nathan also gave advice on how to properly attach the exercise wheel to the cage which is been struggling with.
