Allergy / allergen review. Gluten, dairy, nuts etc. My allergen is gluten. Visited the pyramid restaurant May 4th and had a very disheartening and deflating experience. Before booking I emailed twice a few weeks in advance and called a few times to ask about allergens but had no response. I looked on the website to see if they had any allergen information like a pdf document or menu with allergens listed but none were available. This should have been the red flag but hindsight is a great thing.
When we arrived at the restaurant we were given an allergen booklet upon request. I read through this whilst half our table who did not have allergies went to get their food. I was shocked to see that nearly every single dish listed wheat flour and gluten as ingredient. Naturally gluten free dishes like rice, grilled chicken, curry / salan were listed as containing wheat flour and gluten.
I spoke with a senior member of staff who advised he wasn’t sure if the dishes actually contained flour or if it was just a risk cross contamination so they listed everything as having gluten / wheat flour except for salad and chutney. They advised they cannot cater to anyone with an allergy. I didn’t want to risk it, cross contamination I can usually navigate but actual flour as bulking in food isn’t. Me and half my family had to leave the birthday meal as we couldn’t eat anything that would have been more than salad or chips.
This was a really sad experience. I’m not trying to bring the business down in anyway but hoping to make the owners aware. I’m trying to make others with allergy’s aware before they book and arrive as you cannot check online. It’s hard having an allergy and trying to eat out. You often feel excluded, that you’re the problem, you’re asking for too much, you’re whining, you’re being fussy, you’re stopping others in your group or family from booking somewhere nice. But most of all you feel like an unwanted guest at the restaurant.
Many English owned businesses are great with allergies. They’re supportive, try to accommodate, they have information in advance / online. But I tend to find that Muslim owned or south Asian businesses tend not to. Yet there’s a huge community of Muslims and south Asians with allergies that are sidelined. I feel let down that our community, our Muslim brothers and sisters don’t do better or try to be inclusive. Royal Nawaab isn’t a new small business finding their feet. They’re well established with years in the food industry yet still feel no need to try to help those with allergies.
I ask Royal Nawaab to please please please consider people like me, like the many of us out there. Please try to do more, to do better, to not exclude but to include. Cross contamination can be managed with good training, chefs that know what the ingredients are, surfaces that are dedicated to flour and kept separate from naturally allergen free foods. Don’t add flour to all your dishes, use cornflour, use alternatives or ditch the flour in your curry’s and rice because what does it bring except for bulking. If English businesses can do it then so can you. This is a food business, food should be everything you know and understand. I say until you, your child, your loved one or friend has an allergy, you truly don’t understand how isolating the south Asian and Muslim food industry can be for us. All I want is to eat together as a family, to get ready and dressed up and go to a birthday dinner and not have to walk out your restaurant and go home feeling so hurt and deflated.
I am available to talk about my experience with the managers / owners as I really want to educate and help if I can. But from the lack of response via emails I’m not sure if me reaching out will make any difference. So for now this is review for my fellow allergy sufferers. I hope one day it will be as I’d love to come back to this beautiful restaurant and be able to eat with family. But, at this moment in time it’s not the place for those...

We visited The Pyramid Restaurant in Stockport for a celebratory gathering and while the food was genuinely lovely — with a wide variety that catered well to different tastes — the overall experience was let down by poor service and coordination.
🕒 Arrival & Seating Despite waiting around half an hour to be seated, we were still rushed through the meal. This created unnecessary pressure, especially for guests who had been looking forward to a relaxed dining experience.
🍽️ Table Service Issues Several guests had their meals and drinks cleared away while they were briefly away from the table — including drinks they’d paid extra for. This happened multiple times and felt careless. It’s important that staff check before removing items, especially during group events.
😕 Staff Attitude A few guests mentioned that some staff members were dismissive or rude when approached. For a venue that hosts large parties, warmth and professionalism from the team are essential.
💳 Payment Confusion The payment process was chaotic. I was told there were still 8 adults and 5 children left to pay, despite some families having already paid in cash. It took a firm request to review all receipts before the issue was resolved. Once checked properly, the numbers added up — but this should have been handled more smoothly and respectfully.
🎂 Birthday Cake Mishap I’d asked for the cake to be brought out 15 minutes after the meal so everyone could be present. Instead, it was served almost immediately, meaning several family members missed the birthday moment. This was especially disappointing given the importance of the occasion.
🏛️ Venue & Potential The venue itself is lovely — spacious, well-decorated, and ideal for group events. With better staff training, clearer communication, and more attention to guest experience, this place could truly shine.
🔧 Suggestions for Improvement Train staff on guest etiquette and communication Improve coordination between kitchen, floor staff, and event hosts Implement a clearer payment tracking system for group bookings Ensure requests (like timing for cake or special moments) are respected Avoid rushing guests, especially after long wait times
Overall, the food and setting were great, but the service needs significant improvement to match the potential of the venue. I hope management takes this feedback seriously — with a few changes, The Pyramid could become a go-to spot for celebrations...

We recently visited Royal Nawab Pyramid in Manchester to try their food, and here’s a breakdown of our experience:
Booking & Location You’re advised to book in advance, but even without a reservation, they do accommodate walk-ins. However, be prepared to wait anywhere from 1 to 2 hours depending on how busy it is. The restaurant is conveniently located just off the motorway, so you can avoid the usual Manchester city traffic. There’s also ample parking available, which is a big plus.
Ambience The place is large, visually impressive, and well-maintained—definitely a good setting for a night out.
Starters & Sides – 6/10 The sides were generally good. We enjoyed the chips, pakoras, and nuggets. The grilled items like chicken wings, drumsticks, chicken kebabs, and chicken tikka were also nicely done. However, the gol gappay (pani puri) were a disappointment and lacked proper flavor.
Main Course – 1/10 This was, unfortunately, the weakest part of the experience. We tried: Chicken Karahi Lamb Karahi Achari Chicken Namkin Gosht Lamb Steak Lamb Chops Tawa Chicken Qeema Taka Tak Red Beans Chicken Biryani
Out of all these, only the red beans were okay. The rest were either tasteless or poorly cooked. The karahis, achari chicken, and namkin gosht lacked taste. The lamb chops tasted overwhelmingly of coal, and the lamb steak was simply terrible. The biryani was just average with very little chicken.
Breads Paratha was good. Naan/roti were just average.
Desserts – 3/10 The dessert options were a mixed bag: The vanilla ice cream was unavailable. Tried strawberry and bubble-gum ice creams, but neither tasted like their names. The chocolate cake was dry, although the cream on it was nice. The gajar halwa was quite good and enjoyable.
Drinks They offer complimentary tap water and soft drinks like Coke, which is a good gesture. However, beverages such as tea, coffee, lassi, or mocktails are chargeable, so we didn’t try those.
Overall Ratings: Management & Service: 7/10 Sides & Starters: 6/10 Main Course: 1/10 Desserts: 3/10
Final Thoughts: The Royal Nawab Pyramid has a great setup and decent service, but the main course needs serious improvement. Unless the kitchen quality improves, it risks becoming a “try once and never return” kind of place. I hope the owners take feedback seriously and work on enhancing the flavour and quality of their core dishes. I will say ''Onchi Dukan...
