Great real ale on hand pumps great local following and the landlord a top man a propper real ale pub you must drink in for real ale Saturday 22nd June 2024 This pub is a bloody gem for drinking great pints of well-kept real ales About 8 pints of interesting hand pumped interesting and local real ales on today in 2 rooms This proper edwardian pub has a great locals following and landlord and bar staff. There is a great outdoor drinking area at the rear of this pub A essential visit for real ale drinkers to come to. When in Stockport Tuesday 10th December 2024 I again visited this marvellous real ale pub This proper locals old fashioned real pub Is a must to visit for a tremendous choice of real ales , there is 14 real ales on sale today. The staff tonight were so fantastic and knowledgeable of real ale pubs is great The pub is old-fashioned 1920s styled and in My opinion it has to be an essential visit for real ales when drinking real ales...

For me this pub is a real ale 5* heaven. Been about 5 times in the past. Thirteen of fourteen handpumps available on my Candlemass visit. I even found a new brewery..Flying Gang from Ponteland. I had an excellent pint of Spanish Gold £4.20. Casta not so happy as the rosé wine was Zinfandle which he dislikes intensely and thus settled on a cider, £4.10 a pint. The many rooms wrap round the central bar. There is also a covered courtyard/conservatory to rear. No TV'S thankfully but there is a games room with a pool table and two dart boards. Also books and boardgames available. Littlewoods pies and bar snacks. Not a food pub. Super visit for me. Casta...

Absolutely excellent pub. 10 years or so ago this place was a dump now itś arguably the best pub in Stockport. Very large range of proper beers and quite a variety of rooms, deck areas etc. to enjoy them in. If I remember correctly itś been in the Good Beer Guide since itś first year of opening. Go in the week if you can ´cos weekends can get mad busy. Whenever I return to Stockport this place is always on the itinerary.

So, I've returned to live in Stockport and naturally this was (and is) one of the first ports of call. What a rewarding and encouraging call too. Well done to Lesley, Lee, Adrian, Emma and the great crew for just getting...
