When we went into the store to purchase a washing machine, we asked several questions to the sales reps about status of the machines and testing before set out for resale. We were told all units are tested and are in working order before being placed out on the floor. Incorrect.
The unit we purchased was sealed closed and had a fitted styrofoam piece placed over the drum making it appear brand new and making it impossible to see inside the drum.
Within 5 minutes of getting it home and setting up where we could look inside, we found tons of hair and debris from the previous owner. We tried to just remove the grime and run a test cycle to only find out that the water pump did not work meaning we were sold a unit that had already been returned as defective and was made to look new.
They refused to come pick up the unit unless we paid $125 out of pocket for a unit that should never have made it onto the floor in the first place. Customer service was useless. Buyers beware, they will try to pass off someone else's returned garbage and make it your problem. One star is too high.
UPDATE
Went back to the store to get a replacement unit, picked out a washer that had paperwork stating there was cosmetic damage only. This time we had it delivered and the delivery guys would not install due to old hoses. Fine.
I get the unit connected and plugged in and what do you know? Doesn’t even turn on!!! If anyone had done their due diligence from Lowe’s and spent the 3 seconds to test the returned item before setting out for resale I again would not be in this situation. DO NOT BUY...

BEWARE: Lowe's will misrepresent what is wrong with an appliance, so be careful when purchasing. Additionally, if you choose to have Lowe's install the appliance, they rely on a separate company that DOES NOT come prepared to install the appliances and may not have the pieces to complete the installation.
In my case, I bought a dryer that Lowe's installed. It stopped working a half hour later. I called in and the best they could do was have me select another dryer and pay the difference in price. I did that and they delivered it a week later (today). Come to find out, the delivery person did not have the pieces to install the dryer and the prior dryer was missing pieces as well.
None of that was disclosed on the defect sheet (when you look at the defect sheets, they will say things like scratched or dented, but it appears they don't cover all the defects).
Now, I will probably have to wait another week to get someone to come out.
Go to Sam's Appliances on six corners. He comes prepared and charges a modest delivery and installation fee whereas I think Lowe's was charging $125 per delivery...
Read moreLeast customer centric place I've ever been in. The store manager was not helpful at all, along with being very rude and snippy. When we purchased a freezer for pick-up and called back to the store to request a measurement to ensure the unit would fit in our SUV, I was told people were too busy with customers on the floor. I advised that I lived 40 miles away and asked for just one person to take a quick measurement and I was told 'No". The store wasn't busy an hour earlier, with lots of sales / floor people standing around talking, so it's doubtful everyone was too busy. The person who I spoke to even said "we won't be able to find the unit on the floor", but I advised I could easily direct her because it was a standup freezer and not located with all the other refrigerators. When she said "no" again, I told her to cancel my purchase and to forget it. Interestingly enough, she was able to find the unit as we spoke to remove the sold tag from it. Hmmm...just a non-customer friendly place to do business. My recommendation, go to a regular retail store and get the service and support you expect,...
