BUYERS BEWARE *
David Cavitt, the owner of Furniture Enterprises of Alaska has cornered the markets of furniture and mattress stores in Alaska. He operates Ashley Furniture Homestore, Sadler's, Williams and Kay, Mattress Firm, Lazy Boy and multiple others.
Perhaps his monopoly has him believing he is, insulated, untouchable. There are few other reasons, except greed and arrogance why he would so boldly ignore consumer protection laws.
Cavitt pulled a Bait and Switch on my daughter when a purchase of a daybed from Ashley Furniture broke. He refused to Acknowledge work order request under manufacturer guarantee in a timely manner. Seemingly to expire coverage so his company could bill her extended five year Premium Protection Plan warranty.
Once I realized what David Cavitt's intentions were with my daughter's account, I sent a certified mailing along with hers to cancel both our Premium Protection Plan warranties. We had both made significant purchases on same day less than a year previous. And, months before the Premium Protection Plan(s) warranty became active.
In good faith we reached out to BBB after many stalls and lies by David Cavitt to Ashley Furniture Industries corporate customer service department responding to our issues of non compliance.
Dave Cavitt ignored my BBB complaint entirely. After all our submitted proofs w8th our complaint, the recent letter from BBB provided here is very telling of how disingenuous Future Furniture of Alaska is operated.
Unprecedentedly BBB encourages us to report Cavitt's practices to governing authorities. "We suggest you consider writing to the State Attorney General's Office or the Department of Consumer Protection. We also suggest you consider pursuing legal means."
The response David instructed on my daughter's BBB complaint admits they have no intention of refunding the unused extended warranty protection plan. In addition to bold face lying that we proved with history of emails.
Refusing to refund extended warranty is not only a direct violation of Ashley Furniture Industries. A policy listed on their official website. It is a violation of Alaska State Consumer law. A law as a licensed business owner he must adhere to. Yet blatantly has stated, he will not
Now we must pursue formal complaint with Alaska Attorney General's Office Consumer Protection Unit.
On Cavitt's website he brags he and his wife are Alaskans serving Alaskans. They are anything but a good neighbor.
I urge anyone who has been mislead with false claims by any of David Cavitt's businesses, especially related to their not honoring manufacturers warranty, Premium Protection Plan warranty they hardsell to contact our Alaska State Attorney General's Office for assistance in refunds of losses due to damaged merchandise and...
