I’m writing to warn everyone that the jewelry here falls apart quickly, so don’t buy anything like a wedding ring that you want to last for years. I bought two rings at Christmastime and one of them, which cost about $750, only lasted a few months before the stone fell out, and I didn’t even wear it everyday. When I took it back for repair, they blamed me for being rough on my rings, which is crazy because I just work on the computer. They blamed my hand lotion, and I am dumbfounded that they make such poor quality jewelry that you can’t even use hand lotion. If they had taken responsibility for their mistake, I wouldn’t be as worried. Everyone makes mistakes occasionally, and hopefully learns from them. But instead, they blamed me, told me the ring was in rough shape, and said it was my poor treatment of the ring. Well, now I know that the rings are not high quality if my boring life is somehow so hard on the rings that they only last a few months! So don’t buy a wedding ring or any sort of forever jewelry here! Jewelry should last years, a lifetime, not a few months! They want over $200 to fix it, which would be worth it if I ended up with a good ring, but all I would have is a ring I’m afraid to wear, cluttering up my drawer next to the other one I bought at the same time, which I am also afraid to wear! I regret buying those rings! All together, plus costs to fix the broken one, I’ve wasted $1,500 on 2 rings that will fall apart if worn! The only good thing is I’ve learned my lesson. My husband and I had originally planned to go back to this shop to buy my 20th anniversary ring, which I have a bigger budget for. I am grateful I discovered this is not a trustworthy jeweler, and I will buy my expensive 20th anniversary ring at a reputable jewelers instead!! I only lost $1,500 on poor quality rings, but I could have lost a lot more!
UPDATE: After they saw this review, they called to see what they could do to fix the situation. I asked to return both rings for a refund. They declined, but they did agree to fix the broken one for free (they had wanted $200 for the fix). So I agreed to have them fix it for free. It took about a month, but they fixed it and it looks great now. It's a beautiful ring. However, I am still reluctant to wear either one of these rings, because now I know how easy they break. I appreciate that they fixed it, but I have no reassurance that it won't just break again, because nothing has changed. It's not like there had been a flaw that is now fixed. I don't see why it won't break again in a few months, and I still think that $1,500 is too much for two rings that look nice in the drawer but I can't regularly wear for fear they will shatter again. They asked me to reconsider my poor review, and I have added a couple of stars for the ring fix because I do appreciate that. But I still plan to look elsewhere for my 20th anniversary ring. If you're just looking for a ring that you'll wear occasionally to the opera, fine, they have some creative rings here. But I still don't recommend their rings if you want something like a wedding ring that's going to hold up to daily wear...
Read moreI’m usually not the reviewing type but I just wanted to say this place is awesome! I was in ABQ for work and thought I’d go kill some time. I’ll admit I’m a total watch nerd and have read so much on HODINKEE and other sites about Pateks but being from Idaho I had never seen one in person. As somebody that in this lifetime will probably never be able to afford a Patek, I still wanted to visit Mati to check them out. I was nervous to go in since I knew I wouldn’t be purchasing but just wanted to look. Right when I came in Miguel welcomed me in and asked what brought me in to the store. I admitted I’m a watch nerd and was curious to see a Patek. It was awesome! Miguel spent probably a half hour with me educating and showing me different Pateks they have. After that, he even went through some of the other brands they carry. It was so interesting to see they carry everything from $150 gshocks to $85,000 Pateks. Thank you Miguel for taking the time with me, it made for a great experience and I hope that you can check the box on your bucket list and get a Patek:) When I’m in the market for my next watch, I’d love to purchase from Mati....
Read moreCAUTION have all jewelry checked prior to purchase by a reputable jeweler. I purchased my wedding ring 3 years ago. I am now working on getting a divorce and have gone to over 5 jewelers in Albuquerque who have verified that the center stone in my ring is not 1.10 ctw but less than .65 ctw. When I went into Mati and brought this to their attention they stated that there was no way that could be true. I have now been contacted by two of the managers and it was in fact true, Mati sold a $10,990 Hearts on Fire engagement ring and this ring is not even worth a 1/4 of that. We are in contact with the Attorney Generals Office, we have a claim into the BBB and we have contacted channel 7 news. Since finding out that my ring was not what they said it was, we have found out that this is common for Mati. They have had to pay back customers in full because they are selling diamonds and not giving the correct certificates. If you shop here beware of the risk you are taking. If you have a diamond from here, go get it checked, I hope you did not get sold a...
