New Mexico Has Great Food Too! Must-Try Restaurant Recommendations in New Mexico
ROBERT CARMODYROBERT CARMODY
Ordered Bravo on 12/10 via UberEats. We have ordered from Bravo or eaten there fairly regularly for years, but the last several times, the food quality has gotten worse and worse, and the most recent order on Saturday was terrible. First, Bravo sent the delivery driver with the wrong order, but didn't know how to get ahold of him, so they called me. I called the driver, who agreed to turn around and drive about 10 minutes back to the restaurant to retrieve the correct order, then drove back to deliver to my house. So, we got the food late. The hot items were cold, bread was hard, and cold items were luke warm. We had 2 entrees, a house salad and a desert. Eggplant Parm: The eggplant was barely cooked, greasy, soggy, and there was hardly any pasta sauce that normally comes with it. It looked terrible, tasted terrible, and was cold. Grilled Salmon: The salmon was overcooked, chewy, burnt in some areas, and was sitting on top of sweet potatoes that were barely cooked. Again, presented sloppy and looked like whoever put the meals together was angry and just throwing the food in the containers. Salad (Della Casa): Missing the dressing, which is kind of an important part of the salad and we didn't have one that is similar at home to use instead. Tiramisu: Normally, Bravo's portion for this item is large. This was a joke. It was a tiny portion, probably 1/3 of the size it normally is and they tried to hide the fact that it was so small by covering it with whipped cream. It was hard to tell what it even was in the container when it arrived. Bread & Oil: The bread was hard and cold. The lid to the oil came off in the bag and so there was oil all over the bag and containers. Not one of the items we ordered were prepared properly, presented with any sort of care or consistency, and did not taste good. On top of being really late, the entire order was disappointing. Between the cost of the items we ordered, service fees, and tip, the total cost was $97, which is a enormous rip off and waste of money. I contacted UberEats, and they issued a credit for only one of the items on the order despite the entire experience being a disaster and there being something wrong with everything that we ordered.

Bravo has a generally nice atmosphere on the restaurant floor with a darkened raised ceiling and lovely comtrasting white columns to give the restaurant its esthetic feel. There were plenty of Italian meal choices on the menu. Service for the most part was well attentive. I ordered the eggplant parmesan, a personal favorite, which was done quite well with sizable portions. However, I removed a star because the speghetti dinner my wife ordered was extremely small leaving her literally done within a few seconds while everyone else had just started eating and we never could get a manager to visit our table despite requests. My wife was left to look to everyone else's plates to see if she could share something more to eat than her rather empty far over priced speghetti. Secondly, there were some other even more serious issue removing a second star. Unfortunately, on the late Sunday afternoon we visited, the restaurant was somehow operating with both the men's and women's restrooms 100% completely out of order which I am fairly certain violates several regulations. The men's room was actively occupied by a plumbing crew with big equipment dealing with a backed up flooded line and slipping in there anyway to at least wash my hands, I found no hot water present. My wife reported the women's restroom not any better with "out of order signs" placed everywhere and the restroom also in very serious need of cleaning. This particular visit is definitely going to have to go down as mixed but for the price we paid for our dinner, I kind of wish we had instead gone to Buca Di Beppo not far only a couple blocks away.

Went for dinner with my husband for date night. We got there about an hour and a half before it closed and it was pretty much empty. There was no hostess there and the to go counter worker had to go get someone to seat us. I ordered the Salmon Al Fresca and my husband got the Fettucine Alfredo with chicken. The server didn’t come to check on us again until the food was brought out. The meal came and my salmon was very undercooked- like barely rare. Salmon is typically cooked medium (like this is so standard that no restaurant asks how you want it cooked, they just cook it that way). Well, we couldn’t get the server’s attention to tell her, we had to flag down the cook who was facing us and she was talking to them. When I pointed it out to her, she said it’s typically cooked medium, I showed and she agreed it was undercooked. Up to this point, I was totally fine- things happen, I’m not mad or even bothered. But then the manager on duty or supervisor (the person in charge for the night) stopped by the table and said it would be just a bit longer because they had to cook a new piece, but it’s standard for salmon to be cooked medium and next time to specify that I’d like it well done…. Immediately pissed off. I’m not stupid. I order salmon often. I cook it often. I know what medium salmon is and I wouldn’t have sent it back if it were that. On top of that, since I KNOW that salmon is cooked standard at medium, I would have specified well done… especially since NO RESTAURANT EVER ASKS HOW YOUD LIKE YOUR SALMON COOKED BECAUSE IT COMES STANDARD MEDIUM. On top of all this, you could tell my husband’s pasta was old from earlier in the evening and the chicken was overcooked, plus it was cold because he waited for my food to come back out before he ate. To be fair, the server (who was actually very nice) did offer to reheat his food but we just didn’t want to bother at this point. I’m just saying, it’s clear that the food was old and cooking the food fresh that late in the evening would cost money- so instead of serving food Gordon Ramsay would fire his chef over, change the hours of operation since the restaurant was so dead at this point it’s clear it’s costing more than the restaurant is making. All in all- $75 something dollars with tip for subpar food and a shitty experience… having worked retail for 10+ years it takes a lot for me to speak up and I know retail and restaurant people make fun of this phrase, but regardless, we won’t be going back. It’s gone really downhill since COVID and it isn’t worth the...

We have always enjoyed Bravo! Cucina Italiana. We have been going there for many years. We were there recently, and our server was a young man whose name started with an N. Very nice young man but really could use some additional training. We had to ask for place settings which he dropped on the floor and still gave to us – they were wrapped in a napkin. We asked if we could share a chopped salad. He said it would not be enough, so he said we needed to buy another one to which we agreed to do. He brought the salad but one of us did not get one. When we asked him about the missing salad, he said, “oh, I just did not want to charge you for another salad, but I can bring an extra salad plate, to which we did not understand since he suggested the extra salad in the first place, and we agreed to it. Shortly after that, he brought our “cold” entrees. We told him we had ordered Shrimp Fettuccine and there was no shrimp on our entrees. Also, the sauce was very stiff as if they took it out of the refrigerator and did not heat enough – you had to smash it down with a fork. He offered to bring shrimp on the side, and we just said no to this. He then came back and cleared only one plate and left all the dirty plates on the table. He asked one person if they wanted a refill on their drinks and took off but did not ask anyone else even though it was evident that our drinks needed to be refilled. He then brought our check and, guess what, he charged us for an extra salad even though, he told us he only ordered one salad for us! We just paid the whole amount and left. We were so disappointed with the service and felt like our dining experience was a bust. Again, very pleasant waiter but clearly not trained enough so not entirely his fault. On a good note, we returned 4 weeks later at the request of a few family members. Our server was McKenzie, and she was fantastic. She was attentive and polite, and she was extremely customer service oriented. We could not have been...
