Ok, here is the raw truth. We've been coming here since this place opened. Have always been VERY happy. Even with menu item changes, quality is still there. The owner had always treated us great. HOWEVER, today things weren't so grand. First of all, portion sizes have significantly become smaller. EX. I have recently (pretty much my regular) been ordering the Ninja Nachos on rice(an offered option in place of the wonton chips), add Unagi. Then I ask for spring mix. The Unagi is of course an upcharge, but I've never been charged for the spring mix. Today I was charged for the spring mix, sprouts, AND the rice as a custom!!! What I normally pay $10.95 + Unagi upcharge of $2.25 was just under $20.00!!!
Not to mention, the kindness that we've come to expect and enjoy wasn't there either. My bowel used to barely contain everything, now it's just barely over ½ full. Thinking we will not be returning. Sorry, but I think your changes have ran away a good portion of your loyal followers. Very disappointed in everything!!! I wanted to purchase a tumbler, but not now.
Heed this warning if your a regular. The burrito sizes are much smaller as well. I could over hear chatter and others were saying the same thing......
EDITED 12/16/2023 We are now visiting Sushi Freak again. We are very pleased. I understand prices go up. So, if expect price increases. For what you get I believe the prices are pretty fair. The quality is great. While the burritos are still smaller than when they opened, the quality is still 100%. As I said in the other review, blame COVID. It changed everything. The atmosphere is comfortable and quiet. You can find and purchase Asian sweet treats and they are quite affordable. The folks are kind and accommodating. The only issue was the dining area could have used a bit of cleaning. Nothing bad.
Go and...
Read moreJust had the extreme misfortune of trying to eat here with what I assume was a "part owner"(edit: after reading reviews, I see I'm not the only one that's had a problem with someone in charge there, manager or owner, I do not know.) Came with my partner and our child in her stroller, and anyone who's been here knows it's a little cramped, and at least 4 of the like 10 tables were occupied, so I picked the least desirable table, right next to the trash, and kept her stroller unlocked so I could move it at any moment. This man waited until my partner got up to get something, and very abruptly told me "I'm going to move your stroller", while my child is still in it. As I'm trying to process the audacity of moving another person's occupied stroller without simply just asking, my partner returns to our table, and the man fairly aggressively walks around behind me and shoves the stools next to me aside, shouting that he's just going to put the stroller there so the trash can isn't blocked. I tried saying that I would have moved it if he just asked, but this went completely unheard, as he was already marching back around the table to sit down at what would have been the best table to have a stroller at. I think the look I had on my face said I wouldn't respond well to my child's stroller being touched, so instead of moving the stroller away from the trash cans that no one had come up to prior to him, we left. I was honestly stunned at how he acted, and it sucks because I liked this place for a quick lunch. I feel bad for his employees, and the turn over rate behind the counter makes a lot of sense now. He's white, only about 5'3", clean- shaven and in his late 70s. If you're trying to eat here with your children, I'd be careful. He didn't seem even the slightest...
Read moreI had called in a phone order. When I got home, I discovered I received the wrong food. I wasn't planning to say anything or going all the way back, so I continued eating it. Except, halfway through, I found a LONG BLACK HAIR mixed in with my sushi burrito!! Disgusting!!
I called and spoke to a manager who was rude and argumentative. She kept claiming she doesn't have any employees with long black hair, so I must be mistaken. She actually went on to describe the hair colors of her employees, saying that the cashier has blonde hair (lie), the new girl on the line has short hair, the guys have short hair, etc, etc (so, clearly, I was wrong?). I told her I literally pulled the hair out of my mouth and it was mixed in with the burrito, no mistaking it. Also, I explicitly recall that the cashier has long black hair... I'm completely positive about that. I have short brown hair, so....hmmm.... Then, she proceeded to argue that I had placed the wrong order, not their fault. I come here often, like several times or more a month. I think I remember what I always order.
After going around with her for a bit, she finally apologized and said my name was down for a free burrito next time (although there may not be a next time). I'm just so disappointed. I feel like she was trying so hard to cover up their mistake. It's important to me that I do business with honest folks who value and appreciate my business. I get the feeling that may not completely be...
