My wife and I just visited the store for the first time. We dealt with a man but the name of Jake. Notice I said , man and not GENTLEman. We came in to look at purchasing two chairs, a recliner and power recliner. When we decided on the first chair my wife asked for it without the $100 stain protection, that we have a truck, and would like to arrange to take it with us today. He informed us that the only way to purchase without the protection would be to wait 8-10 weeks. I commented that type of behavior is like buying a vehicle at a car dealership where when you go to buy one and they already have certain dealer installed packages on top of what the vehicle price is supposed to be. We were ok with waiting however we disagree with the "forced" purchase with the stain protection at $100.
Jake was rude and condescending in his disagreement to my statement. Good customer service means no matter what the customer says you do not argue with them. His attitude continued to being rude. My wife then said as he "yupped" and "uh-huh" that he could not worry about a purchase. We changed our mind after his childish and aloof behavior. His one word response was "awesome". He then became even more dismissive and in a response dripping with sarcasm "you have a nice day" while instantly getting up and going back to the chair to place the placard back on it.
Perhaps he treated us the way he did because of the way we were casually dressed and we "appeared" to be too low class for him or perhaps he dislikes making his store money and was attempting to pull a fast one over on us because he was trying to weasel us into thinking we had to purchase with the stain protection so that he gets a kickback. We will never know because as far as we are concerned we will not step back into this store.
We did contact the corporate contact number and I can say that the nice lady I spoke with informed me there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to purchase and receive a chair from the local warehouse without the stain protection and having to wait 8-10 weeks which raises the question about...
Read moreOrdered and paid over half up-front for a multi-section couch in mid-July 2020 with standard upholstery quoted as being available in 8-12 weeks, their quick-ship offering. As of mid-November one section still hasn’t arrived and their best guess is it might deliver by the end of 2020. Two of the three sections arrived at their warehouse in early September and they wanted to deliver them to collect balance of payment, we refused delivery until all components have arrived. Obviously they forgot to order the third piece and didn’t discover their error until the other pieces arrived. Store manager who was the person we dealt with to place the order refuses to cancel order and refund the deposit as some of the order has “delivered”. States he will waive the delivery charge as if that is sufficient to make up for his error. So if you plan to shop at La-Z-Boy in Allen, TX, be prepared to wait for 6 months or more for your order and to pay the price for their mistakes.
UPDATE - Contacted La-Z-Boy corporate regarding this issue and while they were very kind and understanding I still have not been contacted with a resolution 48 hours later. Also emailed local customer service manager per response to the original Google review, but have not received a response to that email either.
SECOND UPDATE - After a week of no response from La-Z-Boy corporate or local Allen, TX store I again contacted corporate to follow up on the promised 48 hour response, now 5 days overdue. Was told nothing further they could do as the matter had been sent to and area representative who was supposed to have contacted me. Next stop, the Better...
Read moreMy wife and I purchased a sofa recliner and a loveseat recliner in 2021. Paid over $5000 and they’re both a piece of junk. The sales person told me that La-Z-Boy would absolutely handle my weight because that was the major concern. After three years, and of course, out of warranty, I have to pay La-Z-Boy $200 to pick it up so they can repair it. They cannot give me an estimated price because that can only be done in their facility. I would caution anyone considering La-Z-Boy furniture to think twice. If you’re only going to sit in it once or twice a week, you’ll probably be OK but if you want to use it as it’s designed to be used, go buy something else. Anything on Amazon would be better than this piece of junk. Please check my other reviews because I don’t give terrible reviews like this unless they’re deserved.
UPDATE: I just received an email from La-Z-Boy's repair service that the repair on my sofa is gonna be $200. Obviously that doesn't sound like a lot of money, but that's in addition to the pick up fee. My point is still that a three-year-old premium sofa that cost three years. This store is independently owned and La-Z-Boy has issued a case number for me so we'll see what happens.
UPDATE: I just got off the phone with Tyler, the store manager. He said now that it's at the La-Z-Boy repair center, it's out of his hands. It's there because they said to send it there!!! So, no help from the store. THANKS...
