This will be a very long review that is worth it! Hopefully the staff will read and fix these issues.
Entrance: Rap music playing on the display screen in lobby. No official greeting when you walk in, you have to approach the desk and be the first to greet and ask a question. The desk area is also poorly lighted and could use an uplift. Waiting area packed with current students who don't speak and will not offer their seat to let a guest or potential student sit. That should be a rule that students cannot use those seats, they should wait in the back. Sometimes they crowd right in front of the elevators which is very intimidating for a first time guest.
Enrollment Reps: All are fantastic! They get 5 stars! Heidi is my favorite because she is relatable and will give you a full tour of the school and knows how to engage you. Monica, the financial officer , doesn't speak English very well but this is NOT a hinderance to her getting her work done! She is accurate and straight to the point! Very nice working with her.
School Appearance: entrance needs a new color that is more welcoming and less institutionalized. Overall upkeep is just ok. But keep reading to learn about those restrooms!
Staff Appearance: Entrance reps dress appropriately, especially the male rep. He's always in shirt and tie or other professional dress. The Director Mike is always sharp as well. Front desk receptionist should always be on-point because theyre the face of the school. I've seen this receptionist in thong sandals and more. She's nice and pleasant but like the rest of the staff, the dress is kind of hit or miss. They are strict with the students appearances, yet they are not really up to par themselves. If I ran a school, professional dress would be the uniform for all staff, during school hours. I say that because on Fridays the staff can wear jeans...so tacky.
RESTROOMS: I went for a tour in April. The restroom with 2 stalls only had one working. It is September and that same stall still has only one working. The other stall is always out of tissue and paper towels. The worst part is the school has nearly tripled it's enrollment and last week the toilet paper and paper towels we're out for 2 full days! The restrooms are filthy and smell like old urine.
Library: No Library on campus. There's a closet size room with 6-7 computers and one bookshelf of outdated books. That's what they call a library.
Lunch area: Theres about 80 or more students on campus but only one table that seat 4-6 ppl. One vending machine and a microwave. Perfect as a staff lounge. Horrible for a student lounge/cafe.
Uniforms: for Nursing program, they're all white. Medical Assisting students are light blue. They should be light blue for M.A. students and darker blue for Nursing students with all shoe color being white. With majority of the students being women, white is a terrible color for obvious reasons; periods, undergarments, make-up stains and more. Just walking from the parking lot, the bottom of my pants get marks on them. One day, my seatbelt gave me a stain across the chest area so I showed up with a stain that I had to wear all day as if my uniform was dirty.
Lastly, as someone who is serious about going to school, they let students go home early way too often. This is not a normal complaint but understand it from the point of a person who drives 1 hour to and from, have to arrange childcare, put on a white uniform that has to be washed daily. First day of class, we we're allowed to go home an hour later. FRUSTRATING after waking up super early to get my kid ready drop her off, pack lunches, drive to school...
Read moreFirst of all I want to thank the entire staff at Cambridge, I felt like I passed my prime age, wasted it by working for a good company but not getting the brain food I so hungrily wanted. Mrs. Alana Washington! You are an incredible instructor and helped me understand the material in a way that I was able to process it while I was sleeping at home. You were always and I know still are devoted to helping your students, teaching me to deal with things in a way less dismissive way. You challenged me mentally, through my good and bad days, but not once did you ever stop caring. I always felt you there to explain something I did not quiet understand relating to health and class but you also were there for me when I was frustrated and tired from working long night hours and helped encourage me, and little did I know that you were helping me develop my own professionalism / work ethic at the same time. I have to give you a huge shout out because MRS. WASHINGTON, I now have a very promising career and feel confident about my abilities I learned from what you taught us. This comment does it no justice how great you are as a medical mind, mother, teacher, and was someone I could count on to tell me straightforward how something was with out candy coating it. I felt like I was running in circles in my life, until I started here at Cambridge. Kristie, you guys also made it great and helped me make up time that I needed but never gave me a sour look or judged me for missing part of a day cause I kept hitting snooze... Everyone at this school was extremely nice and professional to me, where as many places and college I attended else where looked at me and immediately formed a negative opinion.. You guys genuinely care. Monica, thank you for making it possible that I was able to get into the Medical Assistant program and reassuring me that it would be a walk in the park as long as I focused and gave it my all. Theresa and Melvi, you guys did not give up on me! You guys stayed faithful checking in even when I was procrastinating quiet a bit because after doing my externship and having to go straight to my night time job for 8 weeks straight I was worn out, but you guys were PERSISTENT, and thank God for that because I would have gotten lost in the world of relax and take no responsibility. You both were there finding new job leads, and encouraging me to apply "over there," and "over here" and "I sent your resume to sooooo many different places. I feel truly honored that you guys would dedicate yourselves to other students but someone like me who thought I was getting too old? Yeah right! All of you at Cambridge helped me realize my potential, my intelligence, my capabilities, and so much more I was able to find my true self within. This curriculum works if you work it! I had a top of the line experience with all of you all including my classmates! I believe in myself something, I hadn't in years because I became complacent. It's never too late though! I will be starting with Life Line Screening on April 9th, and hopefully when I establish myself a little more financially, I am coming to do the ASN program that you all offer. It has been a true blessing working alongside all of you, and you guys helped me find myself again. I will become an MD one day and we can all look back at this, but above all, I am SO GLAD I CHOSE THIS SCHOOL!! You guys know what you're doing, keep it up! Thanks again, for giving me a chance for me to discover that I was capable of a future as well as deserving of a good one too. Thank you again sooo much!!
