Ace Hardware of Anacortes — Local services in Anacortes

Ace is the go-to store on the island for many reasons but for me what stands out to me about Ace, over that of even Lowes or HomeDepot, is the knowledge and willingness to help of the employees there. The Anacortes Ace is a special store. Over the last 8 years they have been a HUGE help to me and my husband for small to large projects around the house. But the other day I was helping my dad work on the boat and we needed some bizarre piping when this super friendly gal named Maree helped us and I mean holy cow. Her knowledge blew me away! Then we returned (same day) as the project progressed and Nate helped us. He also was a wealth of knowledge and so friendly and non judgemental with our questions and went the extra mile several times. Then Jakob I think his name was in the christmas area-- so friendly and helpful. I'm just at a point where I want to visit Ace for the awesome people that work there almost more than for the desire to fix things! The team at Ace is incredible. They seem like happy employees. That is hard to find these days anywhere you go! And they are all so incredibly knowledgeable-- it impresses me every time I visit the store. I wish I could name every employee when I say YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!! Thank you.

This is an excellent hardware store with a little bit of something for everyone. Amazing garden center, cheery holiday department, BBQ's assembled for you, unusual snacks, gifts and housewares. Best of all is the super helpful and friendly staff. It is walking distance to the Cap Sante marina and downtown. Our go to place!

UPDATE: Just went in to ask for help in sourcing materials and tools to renovate our 115 year old house and Casey was AMAZING, she herself lives in and has renovated a 100+ year old house in Anacortes and she was a wealth of information. For example we need to strip old wall paper off of our 12" shiplap walls and she recommended against using anything metal and to go with some flat tools that are plastic to be sure we preserve the wood. THIS IS WHAT ALL EXPERTS AND YOUTUBERS recommend as well. Her experience was invaluable to our process! So grateful. Also, anytime we interface with Manager Alex, he is so positive and helpful---100% of the time he helps us and gets great answers for us. WE LOVE OUR ACE PARTNERSHIP because that is what it feels...

Okay I don’t get it! I went in to see if there was any discarded paint. Paint they either made the wrong color or was old etc… the boy behind the counter said they didn’t have any. Knowing the ACE store in my home town had a recycling program. I asked if they had any paint that was going in the trash. The boy left came back with 4 cans of paint. Two in one gallon cans and two in one pint cans. All had been opened and used. Paint drips and brush marks on all cans. All cans had less than full in them. I was appreciative to the boy for looking for me. BuT then he charged me for the paint! I said let me get this straight, this paint was already paid for then brought here for Recycling and now you’re going to change me for it. He said yes. I called the store when I got home to make sure this went down correctly. The manager said that it had gone down correctly. This is beyond okay! This is pure greed!
