I visited the Anderson, SC store on October 29th as a first-time shopper. I was looking for Nomad cold weather clothing in my size and had found online that this store had what I needed in stock. After work, I drove the 60 miles to the store to buy the jacket and pants. Upon arrival, I could not find either on the shelves/display. I asked for help and was told it may be in the stockroom awaiting unpacking. I went outside for better phone service and checked online again to verify that the items were in stock. The website confirmed that they were in stock and that I could pickup the next day if I made the online purchase. Not wanting to make the 120 mile round trip again the next day, I re-entered the store and asked a couple of associates at the checkout if they could help me with getting the items that day. Neither seemed particularly concerned, with one saying that âthey had already had over 600 transactions todayâ and acting as if my requests were a bother that close to closing time. I was very aggravated and proceeded back to clothing to ask again for help. Pam listened to my issue and went to the stockroom to see what she could find; I told her about the incident at the checkout counter. She returned to say that someone in the stockroom would try to find the items within the most recent shipments, but it might take 30 minutes. I continued shopping while I waited and was approached by a nice young man, Mason, who asked if I was the person looking for the Nomad gear. I explained the situation completely, along with the incident upfront. He said he was off the clock, but would go to the stockroom and assist in the search. About 20 minutes later he returned with the pants and said they were still searching for the jacket. A short while later he returned with the jacket, along with one of the managers, Richard. I thanked them for all their help and credit Mason for salvaging my first in-store shopping experience at SW. Mason went above and beyond, and for that very reason I will now consider SW for my future sporting goods purchases. If he had not sought me out in the store to assist me in this situation, I probably would not have ever again crossed the threshold of a SW. Thanks also to Pam and Richard. Customer service is paramount to the success of a retail operation and Mason proved that he is dedicated to this principle and actually cares....
Read moreI went in to this place for the first time looking for a coyote decoy. I have been in their Columbia location many times and was expecting similar service and experience at this location. Although they weren't busy when I was in there, and several employees were walking around talking to each other, no one greeted me or offered to help me find what I was looking for. They have signage over the different parts of the store so I went to the Hunting section and combed the aisles for an electronic coyote decoy, which I never did find. So I left. I walked past all the same employees I passed coming in who were still standing around yapping, and again no one spoke to me or otherwise acknowledged I was there. I left and went to Academy Sports and found what I was looking for with the help of a very nice young man who got someone else to man the gun counter so he could show me the decoys they had and recommend which one would work best for my husband's electronic caller and setup. Came away with a few other items too and wound up spending a couple hundred bucks in there. It's amazing the impression indifferent employees make on you as a potential customer, and equally amazing the difference an attentive employee makes in closing the deal! The Sportsman's Warehouse in Columbia has always been great, and I've never had any issues there. I will give this one a miss from now on though. Attractive, clean, and well-organized store but customer service is much...
Read moreScam with their so-called warranty that you pay for but once you go to use it and they do not have the rod no longer in stock which happens quite a bit or the price that you purchased it at the first time changes you have to pay the difference not doing even exchange or be able to use your warranty because the manager is never there to do the warranty if you go past 4:30 in the afternoon. I have warranties on all my rods however when I go to use them their policies have all changed however that's not explained and I am having to pay a difference in a rod because I purchased it on a special rather than just doing an even exchange for the same rod I'm charged $5 more because the price changed within a month. Nobody in the place can do a warranty that you pay for unless it's the manager and he's not there when most people want to go in and they don't train assistant managers to do that but the assistant manager can lock up the doors and take care of all the money and the safe. Go figure that one out!!! Don't buy the warranty it is a scam and rules or changed every time you turn around! Anderson South...
