This is for both the Tysons Corner and Pentagon City stores:
PROS: Macy's is one of the only places in the area where I can get attractive PLUS SIZE professional and business casual attire. Macy's has excellent store brands (Alfani and Inc), in addition to other great brands (Calvin Klein, Kasper, Nine West, Anne Klein, etc.). These brands often offer simple and reasonably conservative/classic styles, unlike many of the plus size clothing lines available to me. The initial prices can be high, but the frequent sales and the discounts that often come with the Macy's card make them much more reasonable. So this is my primary source of clothes for work; I am very glad it exists. I also buy some casual clothes at Macy's.
CONS: I wish Macy's had more people working at both stores to keep the racks organized, speed up checkout, and maybe even help by fetching me a different size when I need one. The dressing rooms could also be nicer -- the ones at Pentagon City need better light, and they don't always have enough hooks (one room had one, and another room had zero). The Pentagon City clearance section was even less organized than clearance usually is. I didn't try the shoe section at the Pentagon City Macy's, but the one at Tysons Corner is consistently terrible: tons of shoes on display but no one to fetch my size, and even when I find someone to help me at long last they rarely have size 9 or 9.5 in the shoes I want. (Fortunately, I can buy shoes elsewhere. The clothes are WAY more important.)
OVERALL: I think the shopping experience could be a bit nicer, but Macy's does is the best for what is most important to me: reliably having a good inventory of affordable, work appropriate plus...
Read moreMacy's at Pentagon City is awful. No one thinks in that place. I ordered a couple of times to pickup in stores and the estimated time to pickup was around 2hrs. That's fine. I go to pickup at the time and they haven't gotten to it yet. Okay so I'll just cancel the order and pickup my items in person. Store associate who is already so tense and windup says I can't in stores and I need to call the 1-800 number. Umm why can't you just cancel there? Whatever I call to cancel they say I can't because the order is currently being processed in stores. I go back to the store associate (while remaking the line at the pickup window) who told me to call, and I told her what they told me on the phone. She said it's not being processed and she still cant cancel it for me. I literally have the two products in my hand to checkout and they can't simply match the transaction (same exact products to my online order) and boom finish the transaction there and then.
I told her by not allowing me do this, everyone is doing double work and wasting time. (1) I will literally make the same exact purchase in stores to my online order, (2) later on when my products are actually being processed and the store associate is out in the store gathering my products and bring them to pickup counter is all for nothing because (3) I will literally call back to cancel and refund my money for the online order. So an additional phone call and wasting everyone's time because people in stores can't make a decision or think for themselves to resolve a very common issue, but go this WHOLE process just because "that is their process" -unbelievable, Macy Pentagon City Mall. This society is getting stupid...
Read moreI can't remember when I was treated so disrespectfully as a customer. As a German tourist, I had very positive memories of Macy's in the U.S. in terms of customer service during purchases in Chicago and St. Louis. Positive / courteous. As usual in the USA. However, what I experienced here on Monday morning, shortly after 10AM, on July 10, was a disaster! I wanted to buy Levi's jeans pants. I expected to be asked by the sales clerk working in the Levi's section if I needed her help. Didn't happen. So I approached her- she was kneeling in front of a rack of jeans, and gave the impression that I was just interrupting her activity. They found the jeans they were looking for around the corner. Just look. She did not support me in my search. Then when I found pants myself, I disturbed her again to find out where the pants can try on. Unfriendly answer: Over there in the Ralph Lauren area. There I then met the next unfriendly lady ! When I asked where I could try on the pants, she just pointed to the floor with her finger behind her - without words, without looking at me. Unbelievable ! When I asked the lady in the Levi's section after the fitting if there were price promotions / discounts if I bought several pairs of pants, she looked at me reproachfully and said: Can you read ? It says $59.99! Then she turned around and left! I then also left Macy's and bought three Levi's at the Levi's store around the corner. Nice...
