Horrible experience. I went to the Pentagon City Mall with my mother and we decided to stop by sephora to get some things that my mother needed. As soon as we entered the store we were greeted with a “are you looking for anything specific”. At that time we weren’t quite sure what it was that we were looking for so I had told the person no. A minute or two later we decided to ask that same person about this product we were thinking of but didn’t know the exact name of. He introduced us to a couple of products. We ended up at looking more at one product we were quite interested in. We had asked him what specifically it is that this product does and he advised us to look at the box for more details. Seeing how my mother was not fluent in english and can’t read english well, i took the box, read it over, and translated it to my mother. After translating, it was clear to her that it was not what she was looking for and had expressed that to the man assisting her. Out of no where he gets really upset and raises his voice and starts yelling at my mother saying “LOOK. IF YOU READ THE IT SAYS THAT ...”, as if raising his voice will make her understand him more than when he talks normally. and my mother, again, expresses that it’s not what she wanted. After this he literally starts to dismiss us as if we were in the wrong for not choosing and buying the product he suggests and even yells BYE at us to get us out of his presence. As we got help from someone else, he would even complain to his fellow associates about us and mock us as they tried to help us.The only reason this one star was even given is because I’ve been here before and have had better service. It’s also because another person was able to help us much better. All in all, horrible customer service, horrible experience. He was very impatient, rude, and altogether had a...
Read moreI was a bridesmaid wedding labor day weekend and came here to alongside my my mother. I set an appointment for a mini makeover and upon arriving to Sephora found out that that I was matched with ALIYA. Now I never wear make up so i was super stoked about how I was going to look. The bride had a specific look she wanted for all the bridesmaids eyes and I showed Aliyah this picture and she she was confident that she could pull it off. WELL LET ME TELL YOU- I was sooooooo satisfied with her work. She transformed me into a model! I thought I was the one getting married. Then she even went and put some final touches on my mom that enhanced the look that another artist created. I was obsessed with the way I looked, the way she treated me, and just her overall demeanor and knowledge. She also has amazing skin, so she shed some tips on beauty that now has me buying Sephora products- which I NEVER would have purchased without her suggestion. I am extremely grateful to her for her dedication and her skill. I would definitely come here to get my make up done. Some surroundings details: There was a "host" of the area who greeted us as soon as we walked up, my name was written on a mirror and so was my mom's so we were definitely expected and felt welcome-very orderly. I forget the nice young lady's name but she was very professional and attentive and started our trip off perfectly. Appointment started on time and it was just an amazing experience from start to finish. SHOUT OUT TO YOU ALIYAH. You're the real MVP and the world, the wedding and I truly appreciate your talent and service. Thank you Aliya and Sephora for a remarkable first experience. I will definitely return when I need my face beat or to purchase the products that have me shining shining shining...(as you can see I'm...
Read moreVery very disappointed with this location I typically do not go to this location and prefer the Tyson’s one since that is where I live.
I originally was not going to leave a review but found it necessary when other people of color of been treated poorly so here it is.
Two of the employees thought it would be funny to try and embarrass me the young lady abruptly asked me what I needed because I couldn’t find my shade and peaked in the drawer(I’ve never had this issue at a different location and staff have even helped me look together. If that was ok I understand it but that wasn’t relayed ). I thought ok she’s having a bad day I went around the corner where I could be in ear shot and to give her some space (I wasn’t far from her) for whenever she found the product. Due to the fact I’m short she did not see me so she says “see she left”, the next woman then says “You have to be careful; people try to look for things for free.” This comment was not only offensive but completely unfounded. I walked away due to her bad attitude.
I expect a shopping environment that is respectful and inclusive, and this experience was anything but that. The fact that those comments came from other women of color is very hurtful and it’s sad to say that it’s your own people that start this narrative unprovoked.
I’m a manager at a dining establishment and I get guest can be unruly and I have seen it all but this was completely uncalled for and it’s so said when this type of prejudice comes from...
