Doug Sahm Hill Summit — Local services in Austin

Beautiful picnic area, great walking destination, clean, wonderful scenery. Lots of people bring their dogs, and picnic baskets. Trees surrounding this place are gorgeous; as is the grass. Great place to bring children- as with active imaginations, there's endless games to create here in all the markings on everything. Benches are concrete, so if you've a bad back, bring cushions if you plan on hanging out- unless you like to lay in the grass. Which always feels wonderful

The design & location of this little hill are great, with the spiral pathway ascending it and the view, but there should be vertical step ascents added, 2 or 4, so that we don't tear up the grass of the hillsides walking straight up and down. In general it could be maintained better, glass shards cleaned up, and stone work polished/sealed on the summit. If that's done this is a gem of a spot. Doug Sahm Hill Summit is the observation hill in the Butler Metro Park. This 35 foot hill is named after Texas music legend - Dough Sahm. The hill offers a panoramic 360 view of the Austin city skyline.
