I signed up for a session with Get Up and Go ATX excited for some outdoor fitness fun in Austin's parks, but the experience was a total letdown. The biggest issue? They keep constantly changing locations at the last minute, sometimes via email blast just hours before class, other times with zero notice. It's impossible to plan around, and I've wasted time and gas driving to spots that turned out to be canceled or moved without warning. Even worse, I took the initiative to verify their setup and personally contacted the Austin Parks and Recreation Department. Turns out, they're not even permitted to operate in several of the parks they've been bouncing around to, including festival park where they are now launching from. PARD confirmed that commercial activities like this require specific temporary concession or special event permits, and Get Up and Go ATX doesn't have them for the sites they launch from. This isn't just inconvenient; it's potentially unsafe and disrespectful to Austin's park rules, which are there to protect public spaces for everyone. As a local who loves our parks, I was hoping for a legit, community-focused group, but this feels shady and unprofessional. Save your money and time, wait for them to sort out their permits and logistics before booking. Austin has plenty of other permitted outdoor classes that won't leave you high and dry.

My husband and I had an incredible experience kayaking in the glowing/lit-up clear kayaks - 3/16 tour led by our guide, Patrick, of "ATX Get up & Go"! Our guide made us all feel very comfortable and safe-and stayed close to our group the whole time-commenting on the downtown Austin skyline, bridges, waters etc. He even took a couple of pics for us! Was expecting to see more fish underwater but the waters were a bit murky. Did see some tiny fish closer to the shore. Wear waterproof pants & a jacket- butt gets wet-not soaked-but wet.. and gets cool in the middle of the lake! Amazing magical experience all the same -with the waters of Lake Lady Bird shimmering in the colorful lights from our kayaks, as well as seeing the reflections of the majestic buildings of Austin downtown & if you're lucky like us-glimpse of a full moon in the night sky! Would highly recommend it for the adventurous, water-loving people, with atleast one of the two in the tandem kayak comfortable with rowing a kayak. Thank you ATX Get Up & Go!

Super fun, perfect length of time, interesting and easy for our entire group including 83yo mom! Journey was a wonderful guide that made us feel safe (said if we fell in she would jump in to save us!) and pointed out the wildlife (raccoons, turtle and an irate duck) with the highlight being the bats that sleep under a bridge (keep your mouth closed so they don’t drop poop in there, she said). The clear kayaks were really cool, decorated with colorful LED lights that illuminated the river underneath. Super cool! Journey was so sweet and patient and fun. Our light went out at one point, she adeptly switched out our battery on the fly. Great experience from start to finish!

I had such an amazing experience kayaking in Austin yesterday! The water was calm and beautiful, and the views of the city from the water were absolutely stunning. The whole process was smooth from check-in to getting on the kayak, everything was quick and easy. The staff was super friendly, helpful, and made sure I felt comfortable before heading out. What I loved most was how relaxing and peaceful it felt, but also how fun it was to paddle around and explore. It was the perfect balance of adventure and tranquility. Definitely one of the highlights of my time in Austin, and I would 100% recommend it to anyone looking for a fun outdoor activity. I’ll for sure be...
