I mean, it's GameStop. They're gonna annoy the st out of you with unnecessarily long speeches when they answer the phone, and when you buy something; and they're going to annoy the st out of you when they try to sell you disc protection or warranties or a gamer card or a pro plan or cry hysterics if you don't preorder some crummy upcoming game; they'll probably make some biased, uninformed comment based solely on opinion to a customer while you are there, and you'll desperately want to correct them before the poor soul goes packing...
But this is all legitimately part of the charm. GameStop is part of 'Mericana now; its downsides begrudgingly intact — and just as charming as anything they do correctly. The selection cannot be bested. The staff are gamers and they know games. They have everything you need and more. I mean, the corporation itself and the shady septic pool of rules they force on their employees sucks. The trade values suck. Some of the policies even suck. The selection and employees far and away make up for any perceived negative that oozes from corporate GameStop however.
(JULY '16) Trade values are better and more in line with the competition. The Pro Gamer card they sell you turned out to be a decent value ($15 for a year of Game Informer magazine [GameStop owns this rag but it ain't bad], discounts on used games and an extra 10% or so cash / credit back on trades, plus a point based rewards system you can redeem to get prizes [I've gotten three so far]).
(JUNE '17) The store has been reorganized to maintain profitability in these changing times. With the trend shifting towards digital storefront sales (which GameStop does not have a piece of) that also take away from the quantity of used games on the market (which seemed to be a huge part of this stores bottom line), they have started shifting towards selling more collectibles, apparels, toys and gadgets/electronics. As of now around 50% of the store is geared towards displaying the above...
Read moreI've had many poor experiences with this company in the many years I've done business with them. They used to try and help their customers and even had the members rewards program to make you feel you weren't getting as shafted. Well, I had to call them after some of my long term points expired. Those points were added back to the account and a per the agent I spoke to, my account was flagged so that if points were to expire again, I'd be notified. Mind you the company has my physical address, phone, and email, plus the App can push notify me. Well, I log in recently and find they deleted almost 83,000 points (for context, it 's 20 points per dollar spent... so close to 2000 spent to accrue that) without any communication what so ever. Sorry, that's the last straw. I will not longer waste my time or money on a company that will be out of business shortly due to poor practices and even worse customer service. I've spoken to them about it, and they state they are unable to add any expired points back, nor will they. Even though this is an issue with their own team members not following through with a Service promised me. I have simply asked not for the points and even just have the cashed out 80$ in store credit, but apparently even that's too much. Amazon would have remedied this with their automated system, and Gamestop can't seem to get out of...
Read moreThe day before…I was greeted by a incredibly friendly associate named Liz and renewed my pro rewards account status and was told I could download GameStops mobile app. After doing so I ran into complications with my account regarding my password. I ran into an issue receiving my email for a password reset. After being left on hold multiple times for multiple hours by GameStop customer service I was ready to give up… The next day I decided to stop back in to see if they could resolve the issue in store. This time not only was I welcomed in the store and greeted by a stellar team (including Liz) I was told to call the customer service number one more time. While I was waiting for an answer I was informed about great buys involving Pokémon cards and Pop! figurines. As the call was answered I received great customer service by a representative who quickly resolved my issue. I’ve got to say this store really knows how to run a business and knows how to provide stellar service through a thorough knowledge and positive outlook on helping customers. This staff made my day a blast with their stellar attitude and I was super pleased with the light this team imbued on my day. I see GameStop being at the top in gaming one day again based off of these results. I look forward to coming back to this store...
