Sugar Shack — Local services in Bastrop

I always see the billboards for this place while driving through Bastrop. I’ve always wanted to check out the Sugar Shack and I was finally able to.

They have so much candy! But they also have ice cream, homemade cake, homemade fudge, homemade chocolate of different sorts and more. There’s also a great selection of sugar free candy and chocolate too. They also have a lot of nice gifts that aren’t candy as well.

The lady working when we went was really nice and made sure we found everything we were looking for.

I bought some sugar free chocolate for my dad who is diabetic, and he said it was the best sugar free chocolate he had ever had. He said he couldn’t even tell it was sugar free.

The magic is gone and the shop has become more of a money grab. Inflated prices on tik tok trends that even kids don't follow. I found that a weird thing to focus on. Also, there were more empty containers than full. The kids used to love coming here, but now, it became more of a chore with the workers sitting behind the counter barking the warnings at the parents, "if they mix colors, you will pay for the highest." Well, then step out from behind the counter and explain that or put up signs like Drusilla had. These are kids, with candy...they are excited. They had been here enough to know this which made it doubly offensive. It made me sad. There used to be a humor to this place and, like I said, a magic. That's gone. We just did our daughter’s joint birthday party here & I cannot recommend them enough! The hosts were very attentive, helpful, & super friendly. All we did was show up with food, goodie bags, & birthday cake, they took care of everything else! Set up, the clean up, drinks, utensils, decorations, the activity, hosting, everything! This was the easiest, non stressed party we’ve ever had. I highly recommend if you’re having a small party (it’s on the back patio, so not super big for a large party), it’s affordable, & fun for the kiddos. ADD THE CANDY RUN!!!
